Dzeko
Rebic/Malcom
Gomes
Meunier

Get those 4 in and I'll be happy.

We'll definitely have money to spend -

Jagielka
Williams
Martina
Zouma?

Mirallas
Bolasie
Vlasic
Walcott?
Dowell?

Besic
McCarthy
Schnerderlin?
Gana?

Tosun
Sandro
Niasse

Considering the club will be losing/possibly losing the above we'll be getting a good few bob if the majority depart. All needs to be invested correctly
He’s already namechecked Seb Haller on numerous occasions who is both realistic and a better option than a 33 year old former decent Premier League striker.
Sebastien Haller (centre forward, age 24)

Club: Eintracht Frankfurt

Key stats: 14 goals and 9 assists.

Haller hasn’t got as many plaudits as he should have this season, due to the presence of Luka Jovic in the same side. 6’3 but agile, quick, and intelligent, Haller is the full package as a striker, scoring goals and setting up his teammates - with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison needing someone to feed off, a player like Haller would be useful to have. Haller would also give Lucas Digne, an excellent crosser of the ball, a target to consistently aim for.

Other potential targets: Joelinton (Hoffenheim), Maxi Gomez (Celta Vigo), and Andre Silva on loan (Milan)

I think we could do with two strikers actually. A Giroud/Dzeko type and a Haller type.
Since we are name dropping older players that we have little chance of having an interest in yet alone signing... what about the newly released free agent Alexander Pato? 29 years old and could have a couple years in the legs before he goes back to Brazil.

I will never understand why ANYONE thinks that signing Gomes as our only midfield addition is a good thing. We routinely get dominated in the middle of the pitch. We have ONE guy with any athleticism or ability to make a tackle or interception in midfield. It's lovely that Gomes can possess the ball, but he's too darn slow and too poor defensively to play with both Gana and Siggy.

If we want to mount any charge on the top 6, we HAVE to be better in central midfield. That means more dominant, more skilled, more aggressive, better with the ball, ALL of it. We also have to be fair to Silva. He simply doesn't have the personnel to play his desired tactics. He needs a legit 6 and a legit 8. McCarthy, Besic, Morgan Schneiderlin are simply not good enough.

For me we need Gomes, someone like Bruno Fernandes and a replacement for Gana when he goes.

I just don't think we'll have the funds to bring 2-3 CM's in when you consider we need a ST, RW, RB, CB and likely backup GK

Dzeko would sign here. No question. And he's old, but he's still really good. While I could see Rebic as a 9 here, not sure what he would cost.

But I guess I'll join in the fun - something like this type of window would be interesting:

Sales of 80M (includes Onyenkuru / Besic / Scheiderlin / Bolasie / Walcott / Mirallas / Sandro / Niasse / Tosun)

Dzeko 10M
Lozano 35M
Ibrahim Sangare 25M
Doucoure 45M
Josh Brenet 10M
Guillermo Maripán 15M
Alberth Elis - 7M

Would make us better by quite a bit, although missing an elite player for sure. I'm just assuming that we can't grab someone crazy like Chiesa - because I'd spend virtually everything on that guy - or an elite, proven CB organizer to play with Mina like Godin who is out of contract or Toby Alderweireld.

Mix in Lookman, Vlasic, Davis, DCL, it would be interesting.

We'd get destroyed. Destroyed. We'd be MUCH worse. We'd get overrun in CM virtually every match.

In an ideal world I would try to go with this plan:

Pickford - Lazaro, Orban, Mina, Digne - Lobotka, van de Beek, Sigurdsson - Richarlison, Haller, Bernard
Virginia - Holgate, Keane, Feeney, Robinson - Davies, Gomes, Vlasic - Lookman, DCL, Onyekuru

Send Kenny, Baningime, Dowell on a loan.

Buy
Valentino Lazaro 15
Willi Orban 20
Stanislav Lobotka 25
Donny van de Beek 35
Andre Gomes 20
Sebastien Haller 35

Total - 150 million

Sell
Galloway 1
Pennington 2
Garbutt free
Martina free
Coleman 10
Gueye 20
Schneiderlin 10
McCarthy 10
Besic 5
Walcott 10
Bolasie 7
Mirallas 3
Tosun 12
Niasse 10
Tarashaj free
Sandro free

Total - 100 million

In real world, the transfer window is going to be much more difficult story, sadly...

I agree that Gomes without 2 born runners would be bad kinda like Gomes and siggy or Gomes and Schneiderlin. We need a more mobile midfield that can free up our wings and outside backs more often Bruno would be a good start but we’d need someone like Ndombele and then Gana.Gomes is a very skilled dribbler and passer but that alone can’t get you by in today’s leagues.

Just for example sake look at Ajax, Lyon, Dortmund and Juve. All have a very mobile midfield that is also skilled in keeping the ball. Van de Beek, Schone, Frenkie, Ndombele, Tousart, Aouar, Witsel, Delaney, Weigl, Pjanic, Matuidi, Bentancur, Can. All mobile mids that get the job done at the highest level.

I don't think we have the money. I'd say the best we can do is move on Gana and Morgan and bring in a box to box midfielder and secure Gomes.

Doucoure(type) Gomes
Sig

Or a dm pivot. Ripping it up and starting again will mean we are rebuilding and bedding players in again. I wouldn't add more than two new central midfielders.

Why would we not have the money? When gutting the midfield imagine the wages saved and the fees from those and others in the squad.

I cant see the logic in playing Gomes as a centre mid with Doucoure as the only box to box player. If he was used defensively then Sigurdsson is isolated again.

I can see the ideas from you both are quite similar and i mostly agree with them.

If we are going to go 433 then we need at least 2 mobile box to box centre midfielders.

I think they should be Ndombele, Doucoure and Sangare 'types'.

For me, thats crucial to solidify the centre.

Once we have those two in we have the choice of sticking with Sigurdsson or similar (Vlasic) or going with a deep playmaker.

Yup. I honestly think we need two CM/DMs to give Silva tactical flexibility and Gomes ain't one of them. More of a true #6 that is more athletic and physically dominant than Schneiderlin and a dynamic CM that can also play a twin pivot with Gana like Doucoure. Big, strong, athletic, that can also make good decisions with the ball and transition into offense.

Plan should be that we sign 3 new permanents to improve current positions, we lose 2 loans, but then we get 2 new loans. In all, we get the current squad plus 3 new top Brands players, most likely at RB, Midfield and CF. If you cant get top 6 with that, you are a bad manager.

Yeah, you can't have both Siggy and Gomes in the team, one or the other. I think Siggy can play that deeper role better than Gomes, although I'd take either. Just don't see us selling Siggy and Gomes is still going to be expensive.

It will be interesting to see who they go for and I think it'll depend on who they can ship out. It's going to be a very interesting offseason. I

I think you could also make a case that we don't need another wide attacking player. If Richy can play right, Bernard left, Lookman left - need to get him where he SHOULD be. I just wonder if we won't try to move BOTH Walcott AND Onyenkuru. Who knows.

I think people need to approach the window which the expectation that we won’t be able to shift any of our deadwood still on a contract.

Id bin off both Gomes and Sigurdsson.

Get the two centre midfield box to box powerful players in as a priority.

If we sold both Walcott and Onyekuru we woulr still need 1 wide player in case of injuries.

Depends whether Vlasic and Onyekuru are considered deadwood...

Other thsn that I pretty much agree.
