...we can’t assume these lads are going to be good enough. Robinson is at an age where a decision needs to be made whether he has a future here or not, the squad is already too big we can’t keep hold of youngsters just in case.

Absolutely. It will be better for his career to play first team football in the Championship than be the u23 LB for Everton. If he’s any good he may wind up back here in a few years like Jagielka.

We need competition at LB though. Right now it's just Digne, whilst Baines will deputise incase of injury/suspension. A third younger LB in there learning from the two and filling in when needed would be ideal. It might as well be Robinson (Unless Brands/Silva have a new player in mind they can bring in)

...Silva wants 2 competing for every position. The fact Baines has a contract extension suggests to me that Robinson is not rated good enough. The strategy is to bring in somebody new next summer, or there’s somebody in the Academy they think might be able to leapfrog Robinson and step-up.

Just my assumption, of course.
