Had of gotten a CB would have been a cracking window. Zaha was never coming here as wont move out of London.
Roll on the wknd and rest if the season. Think we might buy in Jan now too. Still a very window
State of sone of the bedwetters in here. Brought in 6 players n offloaded aload. Expect 3 more out to European teams too

Were there even 3 center backs worth signing that were not badly overpriced? Once Slabhead went to United for 85 million it might have been all over for anyone who wanted even a little bit of quality at that position. When Bournemouth is allegedly trying to get 75 million or whatever for Nathan Ake, it’s time to shut it down.

Looks like this is what we’ve got for the season then, big asks of Kean and Gbamin to hit the ground running and big asks of Richarlison, Mina and Kean to stay fit all year. Big positives are Kean signing and Gomes joining permanently, negatives are obviously not bringing in CB cover (although I’m glad we didn’t buckle and bring in a third or fourth choice target) and imo wasting money on Iwobi - i hope he proves me wrong. Can’t help but think how much more dangerous we would look with Zaha on that left hand side but alas it wasn’t to be. COYB!

Disappointed about the lack of a CB tbh. A key area is thin for at least 6 months. And isn't Mina facing suspension over some betting ad? Looks like Holgate and Kean....

We have youth, energy and an abundance of pace in our team. We will just have to see if we have enough quality to break into the top 6. Due to our failure to get a centre half in, I think we’ll close the gap on the top 6, but not break into it.

It feels a little like we’ve taken a few steps forward and 1 back.
But as ever, it’s hard to judge until the players are bedded in, or at least until we’ve kicked a ball.

At least our defense is better than kamikaze Arsenal. Lol. We may have a chance to break top 6. I think I was just being a baby about not getting Zaha.. he was too much money anyway. I really hope we take palace to the butcher shop Saturday. I really hate them

I may be new to following the team? I’ve been to more games in this pre season than you have in your life you condescending little quilt so pipe down.

You think Gbamin is better than gana on paper then? Love to see how you came to that conclusion. And thin air better than Zouma aswell, I’m surprised by that I must say.

To call any window ‘great’ I’d say you need to be expecting a jump of at least 2 league positions, 1 would be ‘good’ but ‘great’? That means seriously propelling yourself up the league. If you think this squad is likely to finish top 6 (as in any reasonable neutral would think that way) you picked the wrong Merseyside team to tellyclap, because you’re deluded enough to be a kopite.
Sorry, I had decided to assume you were just new to following the team rather than the worse alternative, that you were purposely lying about our results last season considering even someone as challenged as you can probably figure out how to pull up a schedule and results. Also interesting to note that after being called out for it, rather than responding to it, because I was right and you were wrong you condescending tiny quilt, you've now attempted to move on to your next bag of lies.

Your last line confirms just the type of low life you aspire to be. Thanks, gbye, see you at the end of the season with your tail between your legs.

I’m happy with what we’ve done. The striker position was our one massive weakness last season and we’ve signed one of the best young strikers in Europe.

We’ve also added some quality in midfield in Delph, a big strong central midfielder, an attacking right back, a strong, paced winger and retained Gomes who should be even better after a season here already (as should Bernard).

Heavily relying on Mina staying fit. Big disappointment not getting anyone in at centre back.

We’ve done well on shifting players out. Hopefully we’ll move some more of Bolasie, Mirallas, tosun, niasse on and get money in for Henry.

Net spend will only end up around £30m I reckon which is really well done imo.

Holgate has already played at CB for us , which is the position he was signed for, and performed very well,
Gibson is highly rated and performed well pre season.
They have to breakthrough at some point and this season could be their big chance.
Mina was a major signing , but as we now know already had a bad injury when he arrived and needed time to recover.
There is no reason to suppose he is injury prone.
He has looked very good pre season.
It is certainly a mistake by Brands to be fair, but it needn’t be the end of the world.
Time to concentrate on the football now and get behind our team and see what they’re capable of.
I’m not saying it’s the end of the world, but it’s bad.

I’m not saying Mina is injury prone either, I’m merely pointing out how easy it is for your back up to become your main man. I would dispute that Holgate has played very well for us. He’s done ok at times, but I’ve never felt that he was likely to keep his place in the side when he’s been in. Silva repeatedly played jagielka ahead of him last year, and I thought it was telling that in the ill fated Southampton game he basically gave every squad player a game, except Holgate. I just don’t think he rates him. I know @Eggs says it and I agree with him, if you’re 22 and have 50 odd senior games under your belt but you get loaned out, the manager doesn’t want you. He’s not the worst centre half I’ve ever seen, but if you’re trying to push the top 6 he’s nowhere near good enough in my opinion.
