Nearly very single top striker started off as an unknown for someone. If these players are already at a Europa league level European team then we can’t get them simple as that. We’ve just seen Madrid pounce on a guy from Frankfurt after one decent season. We can’t wait until Belloti is playing well on the European stage or Werner is then say ‘Everton should get them’, it’s too late by this point. We have to gamble early on the next stars before they’re known about.

The way I see it, if we'd have signed Richarlinson 2 seasons ago we'd all be cautiously optimistic. It would turn out to be a great buy though. You have to trust people, and I think Brands has earned that trust.
