Morning mates.
Welcome to the 17th July Everton transfer
show….. very slim pickings this morning.
I’ve tried to bundle together as many of the transfer rumours flying around, combining them into one bite size and heart burn inducing portion for your dining pleasure.
I make some apology for some of the sources and articles used.
Everton are currently stuck in a “Terrible” financial position at this very moment, according to
The Athletic. The online source has reported that the Toffees are very much for sale during a perilous time for the club with profit and sustainability charges hanging over their heads.
They wrote: “Everton are in a terrible financial state at the moment, with much of the mess placed at the board’s feet.
“Right now, Everton are very much for sale at a perilous time for the club. They are attempting to finance the new stadium while battling FFP and trying to cling on in a division they were very nearly relegated from in both of the last two seasons.”
Blackburn could be forced to sell
Adam Wharton this summer as the owners reduce the investment they put into the club. The 19-year-old enjoyed a real breakthrough campaign under Tomasson, and his performances have caught the eye of many clubs in the country.
Sunderland will have to sell players before they can make a move for Everton striker
Tom Cannon, according to journalist
Alan Nixon.
Nixon reported earlier in July that Sunderland were weighing up a £3 million, plus add-ons, offer for the Everton striker, who is also on the radars of Luton Town and Preston North End.
Everton are continuing to push forward for a deal to sign
Willy Gnonto as they remain in “ongoing” talks with Leeds United,
Ryan Taylor reports.
The Toffees have been prominent in the race to sign the Italian teenager since the Whites were relegated from the Premier League, with reports in Italy suggesting they were
leading the race ahead of an apparently inevitable departure.
Two players whose Blues careers are in doubt are
Andre Gomes and
Jean-Philippe Gbamin. Both were on loan last season and have now entered the final year of their contracts. It is hard see a way back for Gbamin, whose agent has said on several occasions that
he does not see a future for the player on Merseyside. Finding a suitable suitor is more likely to be the stumbling block in regards to his exit, rather than a desire for a new start. Gbamin did not travel to France for the pre-season camp due to an injury sustained with Trabzonspor. Gomes did travel but was not involved in the friendly with Stade Nyonnais. The midfielder spent the last campaign at Lille - a move that all parties were pleased with.
Lille want to re-sign the former Barcelona player after he revived his career with a successful season in France and a return, even if on loan, would not be a surprise.
Another player who is being courted is
Mason Holgate. The defender did not travel to France after picking up a minor injury and
he is the subject of interest for clubs including Nottingham Forest and newly-promoted Sheffield United. It is understood Everton would be willing to consider offers for the 26-year-old, who had stints at left-back, right-back and in midfield under Dyche but could not establish himself in the first team last season.
Everton have ruled out the possibility of selling both
Jordan Pickford and
Alex Iwobi this summer, amid several interest from elsewhere, according to
journalist Dean Jones.
