I get pushing for him if he's your top target but it's been eighteen months of tracking him and he still didn't want to come to us it was obvious weeks ago and we need players NOW. We do this every summer.

I don’t think it was obvious weeks ago he wasn’t coming to us. I think as a club we have done a bad job because deals can be done prior to the window opening and we knew what we needed. But I think he would have been happy coming to us had it not been for a team in Europe coming in.

I imagine most deals don’t get as far as this has if a player doesn’t want to move to club. See Elanga who made it clear he didn’t want to come before we did loads of work on it.

When was the last time we had a transfer for a key position completed well in advance of the new season? Lots of other teams can do it, what's our excuse?

I want to see action right now. I don't want to hear stories in the media about how hard we're trying. I don't want to hear excuses. I don't want to see us spend any time whatsoever on non-priority positions.

You can only act like a lower league club for so long before you become a lower league club. The message to everyone involved in the running of the club should be extremely simple - back the manager with what he needs, or if you can't do that, resign and let someone else have a go.

Thing is, Iheanacho is okay (and infinitely better than Che Adams et. al) but he is a different style of striker to Dom. The point of Toure was meant to be that he matched DCL's skillsets. We shouldn't just pivot to a different style of striker, and if we do, it should be Orban.

If we want a big, fast striker, it should be Boulaye Dia.

We absolutely should pivot to a different style of striker but we also absolutely should pivot to not employing Sean Dyche

I think this is right myself. Lots of folk want to make everything a conspiracy theory but really the club has been run very badly for many years and now has no money and no big pull for players so its not as easy as just picking who we want to buy and getting the deal done all the waiting and negotiating and being played is just the reality of being a small fish in a big pond and thats what we are now. Everything about this sounds to me like Everton has tried to sign the guy and he's been interested but decided to go somewhere else in the end its a shame but its just how it goes. We need to bring players in i'm not making excuses at all but I don't think its as easy as sometimes suggested when you've got no money.
