Why we even talking about Harry Maguire

Because all it takes is for one dire source to make something up about “an interest” and everyone takes it as gospel. I still can’t believe that Vardy one that said he refused to take a pen against us because we were interested in 2022. “Look lads I know we need to win to stay up but Thelwell tried to sign me once so I therefore refuse to take a penalty.”

It's not really sad, he's simply just not good enough for Manchester United and the way they play, they're arguably the third best team in the league. He's still a very good player clearly, he just gets exposed at that level.

Find it very weird how some don't want "cast-offs" from much better clubs despite the fact they'd clearly walk into our team blindfolded, if we could sign Maguire we absolutely should, he went for £80m which was an overpay but he still clearly was fantastic for Leicester and a lot of the time at United too. He won't come to us though, he'll have better offers on the table.
How's it weird?. Getting cast offs from bigger clubs rarely works out because usually that player is on the way out or just not good enough. Is Maguire going to have the same drive and commitment playing for Everton moving down a level to his time paying for Hull or Leicester trying to reach the next level up?. We should be looking for the Maguire on the way up not down.

Unless Maguire decreased his wages significantly or Man utd helps us to pay most of his wages. I dont see this transfer come true. If true, it will only be a loan transfer. Our transfer strategy is quite clear-low transfer fee and wages or huge potential young player.

Great? We discussed him starting at Fulham not his pre-season apps so not sure what your angle was here.

Yes - The starting against Fulham, based on his training (which you disputed) and pre-season appearances (you said it wasn't enough but we didn't know about this game).

He now has minutes under his belt and hopefully will get more minutes against Sporting and then Fulham.

Let's be happy he is getting back up to speed as he is vital.

We also have 5 CBs in the squad, so by all means lets get a new 1 in, but we probably need to try and sell 2 of ours first.

Holgate looks likely to leave, but thats it I think.

I dont see us getting another CB unless we "cash in" on Branflakes.

The reports were Holgate and Keane out.. Maguire in

I can't get my head around this talk of Maguire to Everton. Even on a free his current wage renders a deal totally uneconomical.
However he is an incredibly average CB who for some inconceivable reason was lucky enough to pick up a move to Man U. Southgate loves him , it's unfathomable to me. IMO he's on a par with Tarkowski.

Well yeah you're right but that's not exactly my point. James Rodriguez is arguably the best player I've ever seen in my life at Everton in terms of ability but there was a reason he was at Everton and literally no other top club. Players don't just lose their ability when they're not cut out for the top teams anymore.

I think Harry Maguire not being good enough for United is a much different story to him being good enough for a team that almost got relegated 2 seasons in a row. If he came in he'd instantly be our best defender and one of our best players.
