Alex Scott linked to Wolves, Bournemouth, West Ham and...Inter Milan.

Not long back we were linked a few times.

And we’ll never be linked with him again in any serious capacity.

If we could sell Gray (even at just 10m he would help the books) and replace him with either Harrison or Faivre then we are more balanced. Either are more Dyche style players and could fit in on the right rather than putting Iwobi there.
We paid 1.7m for Gray and he's been only decent in patches. No one is giving us 10m.

I don't mind Gray and he may well fetch a reasonable fee. But this idea that selling our dregs can fund a resurgence needs some examining.
It’s about the only hope we have left. Getting a total of ~30m from the likes of Gray, Maupay, Gomes and Holgate is our best chance to free up a little money. Gray and Holgate are more or less pure profit, Gomes clears wages and Maupay just needs to go and may have foreign suitors.

Have to hope that clears enough space for a striker and right mid and that we can sign a midfielder on the cheap like that Martinez or one of the bundesliga lads and maybe loan a backup keeper, a left back and another winger.

The alternatives seem to be go with what we’ve got (shudders) or sell Pickford (our best player and likely the reason we are still top flight) or Onana (between the high fee paid and sell on I don’t know how much space he really give us and he should continue to appreciate - not to mention help on the pitch)

There are no good choices….

I get it but I think only the ones who want to go will go....Maupay, maybe Iwobi....We will begin next season with Keane and Holgate...And they may not be playing in front of Pickford. Horrible, I know.

I’d absolutely love us to sign him. Zero chance though, even before Inter Milan got involved

I think one or maybe two of Keane,Godfrey and Holgate could be sold depending on bids.
Maupay is almost definitely for sale.
If Iwobi is not interested in a new deal then he needs to be sold as well.

At the same time we need to keep a squad. Demarai Grey is a useful squad member, I would not be in a rush to sell him and certainly not on the cheap.

We need a squad of at least 20 outfield players.
I feel that Patterson,Coleman,Tarkowski,Branthwaite,Onana,Gana,Doucoure,Garner, McNeill, DCL, McNeill, Mills and Cannon are all likely to stay. That is only 13 and includes three novices. We will probably keep Godfrey,Keane and Grey and that still means we would to sign a minimum of four players permanently or on loan... in reality we need five or six.

Last year we brought in 8.

6 is a minimum requirement really and is apparently the target number, but with extra departures 8 would be useful.

It's worth saying we're not at panic stations yet - of the 8 we signed last season only 1 was in on the 1/7 but the second signing didn't come til 27/7 and 6 more still followed. That's not ideal and hopefully we can get more in earlier in pre-season, but unfortunately when you're not at the top of the food chain that's how you need to operate sometimes.
