Chelsea 'increasingly likely' to move for Everton star

Chelsea are 'increasingly' likely to make a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The Belgium international enjoyed an impressive debut season at Goodison Park and was major factor in helping Sean Dyche's side avoid relegation on the final day of the season.

Subsequently, Onana has already been linked with a move away from Everton and, if reports are to be believed West London could be his destination.

Phillips claims that Chelsea could make a move to sign the 21-year-old in the coming weeks as they look to bolster their midfield with his ‘physical attributes’.

Makes sense. If we think players like this won't make it in the prem then we have to start getting fees for them. Making the academy pay for itself will be a big win for our FFP numbers.
How much are we getting for Warrington though. 1-2 million? Every little helps but if this is how we're hoping to fund our signings we're in big trouble.

Maybe buy back in the deal could be a good idea let him get games then look back at him in the future
Agree about the buyback, it's a must in these kind of deals and I suppose he does probably have 1 or 2 more years of loans before he's a real first team contender anyway. Feels a bit short-termist though, I'd have thought a decent 1 season championship loan would increase his value for a similar sale next summer.

What do people think about Vardy for 2 years? I know we are very unattractive but we'll get 15 goals per season if he can stay fit. Is he even fit actually? Never mind, we'll be buying someone for the treatment table.

How do you work that out when he got 3 last season? He is going to be THIRTY SEVEN in January, so no, it’s a terrible idea.

For me it looked like time had finally caught up with him last season. Would be an expensive gamble

Nkounkou £1.7mil
Stones clause £2.5mil
= £4.2mil

Warrington + Simms leaving may take us over £10mil in incoming fees which is nice business...hopefully a decent amount for Gray and thats the pot for a new attacker.

It's a weird blindspot football fans have. You can see it when people discuss Barkley too. Discussing the Barkley of Everton and not the Barkley of the last 4/5 years. Fans seem to think we can sign players from a certain period, rather than the actual player.

Brilliant summary, people did it with Dele Alli too. Thinking he was just gonna magically turn back into the version of himself from 2016.

Hes 37 year old striker who relies on his pace mate, sadly all of that taken into account - he improves us. If there was absolutely nothing else on Sep 1st, like in Jan of this year id take him for the year over going with what we've got - hopefully we wont be in those cross hairs.
