Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Moyes and the club obsessed with him. Has the potential to be a very grim summer if we go down this route.

Disgrace Moyes won’t be here the following summer if this is the type of player he goes for. We need strong people in this new transfer strategy, to stop Moyes having full control, some of his West Ham buys were shocking and expensive

Cheers. Think we will be very savvy with our deals as we have quite a fair few spot to fill. So perhaps there's something in this. Given the right price of course
The price should never come into a transfer imo. If he costs 10mil, personally I think they will want 15mil. Add in 50k a week for 4yrs it’s 35mil for a bang average player, I’d rather us just loan someone for a year. I’m sure we could easily loan a similar level player. We buy this pudding and give Newcastle 15mil to go and buy a 60mil player

We need two forward players who can carry the ball at pace and stretch the field.

Not interested in other positions until we finally prioritise the attacking positions and the lack of quality in the final third
One of Moyes’s biggest issue in his first spell. Was not bringing in quality attackers. Hardly bought pace and a quality striker. First 6/7yrs we had players like, kilbaine, osman, Arteta, McFadden, Anichebe, Pienaar as our wide players. Some great little footballers. But not dynamic pacy wingers

I wouldn't expect anything yet, we still need to sort the management structure.

Was an interesting podcast earlier this week from the Blue Room, Paddy Boyland explaining the structure they are going to create; rather than a Director of Football overseeing everything there would be specialist positions and we hope to have them all done by May.

Sounds like it will be more of a team deciding on targets rather than just one person which sounds sensible.

I'd take everything with a pinch of salt until then, should lead to a fun summer though
Sounds very much like the NFL draft room process.

We arent gonna be buying 12 ready to go 18 year olds with massive upsides.

I think people need to realise we need bodies and like or not, Longstaff is a body.
And possibly an expensive one, bodies should be loans and free’s. All our money should go on starters and there’s an argument he wouldn’t start now. Definitely doesn’t get in ahead of gana. We need a starting CM and that shouldn’t be Longstaff. If he’s that good why didn’t he get snapped up when Newcastle got relegated or were near the bottom as a relegation fodder side.

I didnt say he was good, merely a necessary evil.

A PL level player that wont cost the earth.

For the record, I would rather we didnt sign Sean Longstaff, but I do sadly see the reasoning.

But his whole deal for 4 yrs is probably 35mil. I’d rather loan a midfielder if that’s who we’re looking at

We should not be paying money for anyone to be a squad player. We need to be upgrading on what we’ve got and making our current players the squad players.

Depends on the age profile but i agree in part.

Either sign starters or u21s with potential to push out the current starters asap.

Need a difference maker upfront. Literally a Lukaku level signing to take us up a few levels quickly. Ideally two.

Weve got Ndiaye and hopefully get Alcaraz.

If we could bring in a star CF & RW then its a launchpad.

Alcaraz and Ndiaye are better than what we had but really if we want to kick in they’re both too slow.

We need the type of pace up top we had when we had Lukaku Barkley Mirallas.

We need pace from 1-11 that can close down space and press as a team all over the pitch. It’s the only way to compete with these Liverpool and Arsenal teams now, and City when they get back on it. They never ever buy slow players. We shouldn’t be doing the same now that we are hoping to progress again.

When Mirallas ran the pitch to score v Stoke, Barkley doing it v Newcastle, Lukaku having the entire Arsenal defence on the back foot. That’s the type of raw power and pace we need upfront. Even Beto caused Liverpool huge problems because he’s got the speed in behind if nothing else to go with it. There were times last night we had 4 v 3 and Harrison and Alcaraz were running in treacle.
