Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He's not getting in that team before Tonali and Gummyrice.

Probably the best CM pairing in the league.

Howe seem to be think a fair bit of him.

To be fair Everton managers used to say similar things when talking about Tom Davies. They have to be diplomatic, and give their fringe players a bit of hope and encouragement, publicly at least.

He doesn’t say he wants to keep him, the opposite in fact. He seems happy to publicise his availability and what a “good lad” he is.

If he was gettable i wouldn't be opposed to it - but i sometimes read we need a young midfielder - for my money we have one of the best in the country and if he wasnt here id want him. Stylistically he reminds of one of your old favorites - Wharton mate. I feel Rigg may end up further up the pitch then Armsrong also.

Which is why i think you have to be pragmatic with the likes of Longstaff or Soucek, i think you have to have a pathway there for Armstrong - but also realise hes maybe a season or two off starting 38 games yet.

Souceck or Longstaff come into the squad and I'd want Moyes sacked.

Yep. I don't know why people cannot see that his recruitment at West Ham was pretty wretched. And, at the very least, even if people won't acknowledge that most of the signings were poor, they were certainly massively overpriced. Only Coufal, Soucek and Bowen would fit into the old Moyes template people are harking back to.

Moyes loves average players. We need someone to get control of transfers. Moyes should not have carte blanche.

Yes he simply cant be trusted.

Well look at his loyalty to Doucoure. Doucoure is genuinely one of the worst footballers we've ever had. He doesn’t even tackle properly and backs out of challenges and headers. Basically, just runs around. Could honestly get a fit fan to do that.

More troublingly, given the God-like status Moyes has amongst our fans for transfer acumen, it turns out that he had to be pushed to sign some of our best players of his first era - which I didn't know.

Commentator on the stream I was watching was talking about when Arteta signed for Everton and said that Moyes really wasn't sure on him, but Alan Irvine really pushed for him. Also said it was the same for signing Pienaar and Osman being promoted. Moyes wanted, robust physical players, whereas Irvine thought we'd improve from having more technical footballers. They discussed it in commentary and suggested that may be because Irvine was a winger as a player.

But to me that's terrifying that he is going to be in charge of transfers.

Yes I thought it was well known that Moyes excelled at picking the defenders and Irvine brought in the stardust.

How can we have Alcaraz at £12-15mil signing fee ignored centrally for the lumbering oaf? How he has lasted the game is genuinely disgusting.

Our player is Chermiti but we have to watch Broja up top today when he should have been binned off in January.

There is no hope currently with these team selections and you'd expect that certain attacking things would be tried out now for the remaining games.

I felt that it sounded like Moyes isn’t overly keen on Alcaraz based on his press conference ahead of today's game. Proved so with him being benched.

In the same press conference, he waxed lyrical about Doucoure. Very worrying . . .

Starting to think we may not sign him. Particularly when Soucek is meant to be available for £20m and money is tight.

If we signed Soucek and not Alcaraz based on what ive seen and the type of play & strategy for a rebuild I'd expect.

Then I'd be in the Moyes out camp.

I think the risk is of falling into the Man Utd trap, feeling you have to sign the big, glamour players and neglecting the nuts and bolts players that every team needs.

Look how it's worked out for them
We already have plenty of nuts and if we had some who could bolt up the pitch, we’d stand a much better chance of scoring.

Wolves.. yes WOLVES.. are looking at Jordan Sancho.
If they can afford him, so can we. Yes, he has a dreadful over-entitled self-centred Gen Z personality and is probably ghastly in a changing room, but he’d be on his last chance and he has pace to burn.
Davey loves a project…
