Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Ive seen him live a good fw times at centre half maye, he has a bit of developing to do IMO. I think wed miss Branthwaite in a transition to Jake myself as well as he is doing at the moment at a pinch.

Im not dogmatic on selling players, its a necessary part of football, but as i said there is a way of doing it, extract 4-6 yers of there careers to your benefit growng the club and then realise their value - as i said we couldn't buy Villa, Spurs or Newcastle players - if we keep giving them our best players we wont compete with them - so whats the point - its absolutely illogical to say we will improve, when you strengthen those you compete with. You must NOT want to sell your best players, or meekly accepet it.

People have convinced themselves, that this is the way - its not.
Probably a self defence from fans because we have had to sell our best players in recent years due to our PSR and financial position in recent years. Now we have new owners and hopefully better revenues in a new stadium, we need to change our mindset. I agree with you we need to compete with teams. Also I would rather sell Mcneil or Beto and Patterson than Branthwaite if we have to sell players, those three can be replaced Branthwaite cannot so easily.

I think there needs to be a mindset change certainly mate - i can see Moyes stance yesterday - im not saying we wont sell Branthwaite - but i see him making us unwilling sellers - under him we extracted 5/6 years out of the likes of Arteta, Fellaini and Lescott - earning the club success on the pitch - but also realsied thier values at about 28 give or take - like i say there is a way.

We need to get back to a mindset that we are competing with Newcastle, Spurs and Villa - for a start - we should abhor selling to them - it shouldnt be tolerated.

I also think buying and selling players has become Eastenders for men, people are more excited by transfers and rumors then they are about genuinely competing. We shouldn't get excited by selling Anthony Gordon to create the possibility of bringing Dwight McNeill in. Then Gordon goes on to get double digits goals and assists for a rival the following season. Things like that should never happen here again.

Sometimes 'everyone' can be so negative -- theres really no need to be.

LB: Mykolenko
LCB: Branthwaite
RCB: Tarkowski
RB: New signing

LCB/LB: Hancko (250games at LCB / 50 games LB).

RCB/ RB: O'Brien (50games at RCB / 13 games RB)

If we signed Hancko & a RB then knowing Moyes that's his defence completed as he prefers to go with a small squad.

He may even keep Patterson around and bring in a young left back -- the man is defence first.

Weve also been linked with Dennis Cirkin at Sunderland, 128 games at LB, 25 at Centre back. Perhaps hes a 3rd defensive signing or signed instead of Hancko.

Whoever the players are, I fully expect him to sign two defenders, a RB & a LB/LCB.

Not sure what the correlation is with Branthwaite at all.

Neither do I, I said a back up centre half for Keane, but tag me in if you like.

Explain how I've been negative?

Him leave leaving could be a positive in terms of allowing us to spend.

You've chosen to interpret my post as a negative.

I think you need break from this thread mate, seriously.

Speaking to Everton News (12 April), the journalist said: “They are one of the teams who are looking at Dennis Cirkin, the left-back at Sunderland. We know Crystal Palace and Tottenham like him.

“Obviously, Everton are looking at Sunderland with Anthony Patterson, Chris Rigg and Dan Neil. The Championship is a division which David Moyes knows very well. Cirkin is someone on their list, and they are doing work on the full-back position, I know that.”

Are you saying O’Brien can’t play left centre half?

Im saying hes never played there in the premier league. I dont believe that he has ever played there...for Lyon he was used on the right of a 2.

Neither do I, I said a back up centre half for Keane, but tag me in if you like.

Im agreeing.

….unsurprising if Moyes has identified our LB position needs strengthening ;)

If Keane goes I wouldn’t mind Lindelof as a replacement 3rd or fourth choice CB on a free. People will complain but he’d be an upgrade on what Keane is offering (who wouldn’t be) and would fix a position without us shelling out if funds are still constrained. He might want to stay in the region and the prem as well.

Lamptey or KWP would be better than Coleman or Young. Again they’re not glam names but strengthen the squad for no upfront outlay.

I think we should put whatever budget we have towards stars. Put it all on two or three attacking players or a star midfielder. That means we might have to be creative with frees and loans elsewhere to plus squad holes.
This is exactly my thoughts regarding defensive ins, I'm sure whoever we get in will be on less wages than Keane, so we'd be better off either way. Lindelof ain't glam but an upgrade on and good cover, I mean it only takes an injury or suspension from Tarks for example to be down to the bones.

A dynamic CM who can pass forwards, dribble and be able to shoot on target should be the priority IMO.

Zat if you're not having at least four conversations at once you're just not happy are you ?

Cirkin LB/LCB
Esteve LCB
Hancko LCB/LB

Seems quite obvious were after a left sided defender if rumours are true.

No idea what this has to do with Branthwaite and the doomsday predictions -- we have no backup for Mykolenko or Branthwaite so its clear we're signing at least one.

Plus Moyes goes for a small squad so...

Seems a bit obvious and worth mentioning.

Delap and mcatee

Do it Moyes

Best mates at city apparently.

People need to realise we are nowhere near a position where we can turn down big offers for Branthwaite. Same is true for most clubs in the world. Plus, if a Champions League club offers him double the money he might well want a move as well. He would be much more likely to get in the England squad as well at a big club.

….the Manager will be working from the top down, not spending limited budget on reserves. If he’s after a LB then it won’t be as back-up to Mykolenko.

as much as I think Sunderland getting promoted back to the prem would be a great story, the selfish part of me wants them to stay where they are to give make it easier to potentially poach some of their talent (it’s a brutal business). Both their full backs are talented, but Cirkin is the guy I’d love for us to target at LB. Another England youth guy as well, how boss would it be to be an attractive prospect for those sort of guys in the future.

This is a really good point, but as much as I don’t mind Myko, his lack of attacking support has resulted in those guys playing LW (McNeil and now Ndiaye) having to do a lot of work and limiting our width. I’m not advocating selling Myko, but I do think we need to see a new starting LB. Both full back positions need new starters come next season - very hard given the finances. It’s a shame the RS seem to have snapped up Walker-Peters, on a free it felt like a no brainer. I’m not a Lamptey believer given his injuries, but he is also on a free in summer isn’t he (am I hallucinating that?) He was hot property not too long ago
