Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

His agent has played a blinder, getting that release clause out there in the public domain, creating a link with almost every team in the league. I think it will be interesting to see who actually comes in with a firm bid. We should be in for him, but we need to have some other options lined up because we have to face facts that if a team in the Champions League comes and and can offer him crazy wages, he is going to there, regardless of what me might think, he will back himself to get in any team.

I think the wages and CL are going to be key if im honest mate - the £30 mill is almost a non event - half the league will take him at that.

Id be amazed if e get anywhere near if im honest.

remember when newcastle bought lloyd kelly for free because his contract expired, gave him a 5 year deal probably on a decent wedge and then they loaned him to juventus with an obligation for them to make the move permanent for 20 mil

so newcastle just pocketed a free 20 mil

now that is how you operate to then spend the money on the big name targets you really want for effectively nothing

I reckon you’re going to see Moyes push for as much PL experience as possible in the core of the team in the way he wants us to play. And that’ll be Soucek who in fairness is better than Doucoure

That PL experience was what he wanted in his final season at West Ham. It’s why he fell out with Steitden who in fairness bought a load of rubbish largely

So he targeted McTominay and Maguire and ultimately lost in that battle. And they’d be a better team if they had them now.

We need so many players though there’s going to have to be frees, really smart loans, youngsters and risks from abroad too. So it’ll be a busy thread this summer.
Need to avoid the PL experience nonesense. It often means very little beyond being a comfort blanket for defensive managers or managers who lack vision.

How many PL games has Michael Keane played? And, if he played for another side and we were linked with him for a middling fee in the summer, a load of fans would be saying it’s a sensible signing, despite the fact He's one of the worst CBs I have ever seen.

Moyes really needs stopping if that's the route he is going down. Signing Soucek because he is better than Doucoure is illogical. If he ends up in the 10, we are booting the ball up to a big man with no pace, a low to average presser, who can't play a tidy throughball, seldom scores from distance, but has a nice touch and occasionally gets on the end of crosses. He is 30 and will likely cost in excess of £20m. We need to be getting a real player there, not a player like this. In truth, it is the love of and insistence on these kinds of players that prevents certain kinds of managers making the move to/or being successful at bigger clubs.

League experience is a buzzword for bad managers. You have to trust your scouting department/ability and make the players better with your coaching. The players should not be the ones to make you a better coach. It has been proven time and time again that you should not base your decision solely on league experience.

My shout would be getting Ait Nouri from Wolves to upgrade from Myko at left back.

Lads in the last year of his contract. 4 goals 6 assists this season.

Especially if we're allowing the LB to attack more.

We'd have the best of both worlds if we could get him and extend Mykolenko.

I think he'll go for Everton knowing he will get game time. Also of course he used to be based in Manchester so may want to move back to the area.

Cherki and delap are sadly out of range now I recon, I’d argue championship recruitment could be a lot more exciting e.g. fellows

I wouldnt touch fellows.

Delap ive commented on above.

Cherki i think would like to be seen as 'the main man' at a side. He'd walk into our team and instantly be our best attacking midfielder.

We have zero chance of getting Miley. He is very happy there (don’t know where you are getting him being unhappy from) and is seen as their long term future. He was injured virtually whole first half of season and is back ahead of Longstaff in the pecking order now. He will play plenty for them next year when they are back in Europe.

Most likely he stays. However, from a PSR standpoint a chunky fee for him enables them to spend a small fortune.

They have to be in the champions league for Isak & Guimaraes to stay. Perhaps they sell Miley to buy a couple of top players?

We'll spend a lot of money to do that.

Talk is £15m for Fellows. £35-45m for Chris Rigg, £25m for Dan Neil.

There are good players in the Championship, but they are really expensive generally these days - don’t think otherwise!

Just get Rigg from the championship and were on to a winner.

If he moved to us and did well next season we could potentially sell for £60mil.

Massive upside from both a resale and a playing perspective.
