Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Gentle reminder to everyone to ignore most stories.
I worked with some football journalists and they openly talked and joked about making up ALL of their transfer window stories in order to fill their quota of articles.

Moyes' probably doesn't have a clue about the players we should be signing. He should be giving a profile of the type of player he wants to someone who spends all of their time watching the lower leagues, the French, German, Spanish and Portuguese leagues, the under 21 internationals featuring unfashionable countries. This is where successful clubs with limited budgets like Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford are getting their players from. Moyes wouldn't have identified many of their signings and fair enough, that's not his job, or it shouldn't be.

…as I’ve posted previously, exactly what I think happens.

He’ll know what priority positions he wants strengthening and he’ll discuss the ‘types’ of footballers he wants to fill those positions. His recruitment team will see what players fit the requirements and discuss them with him.

I imagine the endless lists from computer games we see on here each morning are a long way from reality.

Let's hope so, and let's hope for a general age profile as well rather than buying older players with Premier League experience for high prices and high wages. Time will tell.

…I’d imagine age is part of the acceptance criteria (other tick boxes will be quality in possession, athleticism, good injury record, attitude, professionalism etc). There will be obvious exceptions, like Gueye but such criteria supports a transfer strategy.

I do suspect he’ll look to take a number of players on loan, simply because of the numbers we’ll need in and I’d trust him to make better use of that than the last few seasons.

Fingers crossed. West Ham have wasted about £300 million on mainly moderate players over the last few years so I'm nervous about who we might sign with our DOF leaving, but I'm hoping the Moyes from his first stint at Everton shows up rather than the Moyes who signed expensive flops and old crocks like Ings at West Ham.

West Ham will likely have to sell some players this summer. It wouldn’t surprise me if Moyes goes for Soucek despite him just turning 30. Moyes signed Distin when he was 31, and we already have Tim and Armstrong coming through in the central midfield position.

Doucoure and Mangala both need replacing as well. At the right price, I can see us going for Soucek.

The rumour is TFG won’t spend big on players over a certain age. And I think he still has 2yrs on a deal at West Ham, hes on 90k a week they will probably want 20mil. So the whole deal could be 40/50mil in fee’s, wages, signing fee, agent payments, So I doubt that’s a goer. People seem to think the transfers in the summer will be all on Moyes, but I don’t think that will be the case.

We need holidays for the transfer window now, then.
Also: start it earlier so the rich clubs who aren't affected by PSR have more opportunity to grab players without competition from the clubs that must wait post June 30th due to the stupid PSR rules. 4 weeks of negotiating and manipulation tactics vs the normal 2.
