Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think we have a chance of signing Delap, and I find the idea that he would undoubtedly prefer a move to 9th placed Brighton ridiculous.
I think we do also. It would be a good move for him as well at this stage of his career. I personally think he’s risky on 40m, but there’s no doubt he’s done well this year in a poor team and shows potential.

….not overly keen on Soucek myself, I know he’s a threat in the opposition box and decent aerially but he’s very laborious about the pitch and isn’t the best in possession. I’m hoping the links with him are journalists putting 2+2 together and they’re way short of the mark.

I also don’t get posters suggesting links to others are ‘Soucek’ types, when the main comparison I’d make is that they’re blokes in football kits.

Rohl is the name that keeps cropping up. I wonder if we’re trying to get this wrapped up early because we view him as a superior option to Alcaraz and wouldn’t want both, hence working on it early before triggering Alcaraz’s option.
I don’t know much about him , only going off another forum and apparently his stats are terrible for someone playing off the striker in a weaker league. 1 assist in 16.
How many expensive signings have come off from Germany in the last few years

Moyes has always liked a Fellaini typed big man in midfield.

Longstaff is a decent player tbh. Not an exciting signing but definitely not horrendous.
Not good enough to kick us on though. Played at Newcastle when they were in tbe championship and fighting relegation, they’ve gone up a level and he’s no longer needed. Smacks of the Rooney deal, year later Utd owned us a payment and we got Phil Neville. Newcastle probably still owe us for Gordon and trying to flog us one of their bog standard players they don’t want. Let Leeds or Burnley buy him. We need better if we have aspirations of moving up the league

I’d like to think most footballers will now see Everton are over the worst of the many issues we have faced, and we are finally in position to become a much more professional, competitive outfit once again. One thing Delap will get is guaranteed mins as a prem player, instead of falling into the abyss at somewhere like Chelsea, Arsenal etc. whether many agree, the new stadium and trajectory the club will be going on, will be a major pulling factor to all players, not forgetting that our fanbase packs out everywhere we go. Obviously money talks these days, but forging a good career will be as equally important to some too. At 22, I feel Delap knows he’s plenty of time to climb the ladder, so if we do decide to make a move on him, I’d say we have as good a chance as any club. TFG have been very quiet to this point, but once mathematically safe, and all boardroom appointments are in place, I feel they will begin to share a lot more with us. Root & branch approach this summer, long overdue and it’s lovely to actually look forward to a transfer window for 1st time in years.

Soucek want be signing , he’s 30 but I agree. We can’t go near longstaff, that would send out bad signals from Moyes and where he wants to go. I’ve said he made some bad signings at West Ham, but at least he went for good technical payers. Alveraz, paqueta, kudus, Bowen. Even ward prowse good footballer, but was a terrible buy for 30mil. But if moyes changes tact at Everton, going for big hardworking players. That will be very disappointing

Hasn’t always. Some of his midfielders at Everton before Fellaini were:

Carsley, Gravesen, Cahill, Osman, Arteta, Neville Pienaar, Fernandes.

He added a bit more height later on in Rodwell and Fellaini but even towards the end we had Gibson.

He doesn’t always have to play with a big target man midfielder and indeed I think his teams play better with a proper number 10 rather than a Fellaini in that position.

He’s an interesting one. He’s a unit and could be a younger version of Souceck. Looks to be tailor made for Premier League football. Hasn’t got the eye catching digits for an attacking midfielder, but he’s only 22.

Stuttgart fans aren't that keen on him. They are laughing at the thought of getting €20m for him.

As I said before, although he's got talent, his stats are genuinely awful.

…and yet linked with a few big clubs, I think stats are a consideration but shouldn’t be the ‘be and end all’. I wouldn’t pretend to know as I’m only going off interweb clips.
