Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Just been perusing players that aren’t getting much of a go at other prem teams.

Richarlison - time to come home boy
Raul Jimmynez - dropped out of Fulham 1st team.
Emile Smith Rowe - not getting a look in,
Leon Bailey - non starter at Villa
Hwang Hee Chan - at Wolves, tricky little fella
Also Cunha will probably be sold so scuppers this one a bit but Strand Larsen seems to score every time he plays.

Forest have built their team with players that felt hard done by elsewhere and according to Dave they’re the blueprint.

Let’s go get some rejects!!

Oh boy we’re on to pretending it’s Moyes’ fault West Ham are crap now that we’ve run out of Everton related things to slate him for.

It is indeed where the trade go.
I’ve got a mate who’s a hammers fan. I told him what to wish for post Moyes era. I said he’s won you a trophy, got you decent positions in the league, do you honestly think top 4 is attainable with a new manager. He now acknowledges he was wrong.

Out of all our strikers if fit, Broja would be my last choice to start.

Honestly dont know what many see in him
I was just making a point about potentially slightly improving your team for a lot of cost.
I think he’s got ability, he could definitely go in to have much better careers than DCL and Beto, it’s just he seems to have issues with staying fit

Soucek and Coufel have been brilliant signings for the money spent.

Kudus and Bowen have developed into Champions League calibre players, Paqueta as well.

Benrama was ok - apparently Moyes wanted Eze and Watkins but the powers that be went with Benrama instead.

Cornet suffered injuries and never found is Burnley form. Zouma was excellent for Everton and started off well for West Ham until knee injuries derailed his career. The medical team could be questioned for those signings.

Ings was an awful signing but apparently this was a chairman signing.

Vlasic was a terrible signing that's on Moyes.

The likes of Scamacca, Mavropanus, Aguerd and Alvarez were bought by Director of Football who has subsequently been sacked.

Moyes wanted Maguire (he would have been an excellent signing in their low block) but they bought Mavropanus and he wanted McTominy/Gallagher for their athleticism. They bought Ward-Prowse and Alvarez instead.

He also brought in Dawson for a nominal fee and he did a fantastic job for them.

Some poor signings in there for sure and Moyes is partly to blame but by not backing him they missed out on Eze (from QPR) and Watkins (from Brentford) who would have nicely complemented Bowen all from the Championship.
convenient all the bad buys weren’t moyes’s fault

Zouma as well. There will have been others which worked out badly.

My point really is that he is generally excellent at assessing talent in the Championship. He signed Bowen and it's widely acknowledged that he wanted Eze and Watkins before Palace and Villa moved in. In addition to the countless quality players he signed from the championship at Everton the first time round.

Of course he contributed to some of those poor signings above but equally, he will have signed off on the likes of Kudus and Paqueta.

I would prefer to have a DOF working alongside Moyes but I guess after his experience at West Ham that's probably a non starter.

He would yes, because he’s a good football manager. Don’t think anyone is saying otherwise. That doesn’t mean his recruitment has been good. Look at the improvement he’s made here in a short space of time with what people have described as a poor squad. The issue is recruitment. If that money at West Ham had been spent far better, what would he have achieved? Getting the most out of an average squad doesn’t excuse wasting hundreds of millions on average players.
True but then what about his recruitment when he was with us the first time around, for the most part that was bloody good, right? Maybe we should give him a very small budget? 😂

Ah, the old "the manager bought all of the good players and the DoF/chairman/owner bought all the bad ones" argument again. It's a classic.

Why? Maybe West Ham aren't playing to his strengths? Also, just come back from an injury

I haven't seen any6from his at Ham, but do recall him in the past at Brighton, and looked the real deal
Two reasons.

1. I think he will be overpriced. He has been off form for a good while at this stage and if he is struggling to make an impression on Potter (who had him at Brighton) then that is a big question mark. He had a small handful of ga,es that he looked good (incl the 1-4 season before last) but it’s been over a season at this stage.

2. The Irish team who get 15% of the next transfer fee are the equiv of the RS for my Irish team. I’d be sick Everton paying them a few million! So maybe on a free transfer!
