Ta matey,

what's a freescaling HDMI? Or do I not need to know that?

I believe it means that the dvd player which is an upscaling one has the ability to play a regular dvd but can enhance the picture till its almost comparable to that of a hd dvd.

It won't be quite as good as the real thing obviously but it just means if playing a bog standard dvd you will get a better pic than you would on a normal dvd player/tv.

i think the best advice is to go to Comet or somewhere like that, see one you like, then buy it cheaper online.

Try and go for one with full HD which is 1080p (not 1080i) and a TV with at least 2 HDMI connectors, so you can connect a Blu ray player and Sky HD

I have a Samsung, can't complain, although mine is a plasma as it's over 40".

I like the Sony Bravia stuff as well.

best advice

you're really best off going to 'hot uk deals' or 'hukd' loads of good tv deals on there.
You can even get cashback on some of them if you sign up to quidco and shop though their site
Hukd will explain how quidco works for ya

I really want a FORD Cortina mark II.

right guys, thanks for the advice. I spent a bit more time checking stuff out and in the end went for a Panasonic TX - P37X10B.

yes it's bigger than I said I wanted but I've swopped the tv downstairs which is 32" Sony Bravia and brought that upstairs onto a wall bracket.

the new tv goes downstairs.
I was half way through doing some decorating before my little mishap on Saturday as I'm having family over from Italy in late August (can't have them staying in a tip!), anyway, some friends have rallied round and are going to finish off the bits I'd started.

Anyway, telly is very good. Ordered Tuesday pm arrived early this morning and my neighbour has set it up for me. Hoppy Days!

Always look on the bright side - at least my leg will get better!
