That's his thanksgiving and Christmas boxed
It's hard to overstate how big, culturally speaking, deer hunting is in rural parts of West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. While it is not my thing, deer hunting does a serve a function with respect to keeping the population regulated since humans have pretty much killed off/diminished their natural predators. Hunting is perhaps particularly important as deer-car collisions are a huge burden on the economy and individuals (I speak from experience), and preliminary data suggests extending the hunting season is one way to reduce these collisions.

Sorry for the pedantry, but I was just talking about this issue with some friends the other day since it is deer season in our counties in Virginia right now, and it made me chase up if there was a relationship between deer hunting and deer-car collisions.

Anyways, let's all be thankful for being not deer.

Stop giving deers drivers licenses 🤷‍♂️

As a rule of thumb, very little comes out of the US that interests me, or is any good.

The exceptions - some bittering hops for beer, some comedy, nasa, one or two car engines, star trek.

A bit disappointing for a nation with so many people and such wealth, but I guess their focus has mainly been on marketing and acquisition, through time, rather than real progress.

Other than that I am grateful to the US for making the UK look not so bad.

That’s fine but posing afterwards with it like a trophy is unnecessary.

Posing with a recently caught fish is acceptable. People proudly posing with the big old turkey they've just cooked is acceptable. People taking pictures of their meat filled plate is acceptable. A butcher hanging carcasses in the window is acceptable.

I'd say it's a little more necessary for society as a whole to be more exposed to an animals journey from life to plate. The head in sand approach we take (myself included) to the realities of industrial scale farming is far more shameful than somebody documenting the way they put food on a plate.
