Its weird at the moment. Some good economic data on inflation, unemployment, and, (for most of us), interest rates still low for the foreseeable.

But living standards have declined the quickest since 1870 something.

Wages now rising above inflation as well. (But everyone has their own inflation issue anyrate).

Odd days.

Well i wonder what mr Ed will come out with today?
He is starting to remind me of one of those deluded bells on the apprentice, that thinks there great at everything, but everbody knows they are a joke.
Hope he turns it around in the next week or two, or its call me Dave for the next five years,.
Only hope now is if he can turn it on its head and becomes the underdog, anti astablishment figure, they dont want me in power, the Brits love a bit of that, or the Tory party implodes.

It does look increasingly like that. It's a strange situation. I'm not sure the Tories are really that popular, but Labour seem in a right mess at the moment. It seems as though the carping from Lib Dem supporters has died down a bit lately, so I wonder if they'll be deserted in the numbers previously thought, or whether lefter leaning sorts will see them as the best way of getting some kind of presence in government?

I think the libs are dead in the water, were there local mp is doing a decent job should see a few save there seats
There could be a very intresting mix of SNP, UKIP, and the Libs holding the balance of power, thats unless something major happens between now and and the election.
Those on the left will be seeing how it goes if, they get beat i imagine the Labour party will rip itself apart,
I think those at the top are on very shakey ground with old labour supporters and the unions.

I am at his speech in Central London which starts in 30 mins.

Will report on the "mood" later....

the problem labour has is milliband is not a natural leader and they cannot see that. They need someone who comes across as strong and confident, milliband just doesnt do that in the same way Blair did. Brown was type cast for years when really he would have done a great job given the chance.

If Brown had concentrated more on being a minister/PM, as opposed to plotting against all and sundry, you might be right.

Do the media hate him because they are scared of what he will do to the elitist rich if he gains power e.g the bankers - the energy companies - the tax avoidance business men - the hedge fund rip off merchants etc - The greedy Landlords - it makes you wonder -so much hatred for a opposition leader- or do the want a CON government in who look after all these people like Gideon Osborne { thats his real name not George!}

Brown was a fantastic leader in prospect given his back ground. Its the years as chancellor and therefore in the limelight that put people off him when he stepped over. A shame that a really talented man never got the chance to really have a good go on his own terms.

Compared to one now who was campaigning AGAINST nelson mandela in his back story.

Not Anti tory post, just anti cameron

Like I said, if he had concentrated on that, I would agree. When the chips were down, he stepped up, (QE/Scottish Ref/Conference time), but in between he fiddled and plotted and made simple things maddeningly complicated. Which is a shame. Liked Darling for the exact opposite. Just got on with the job.

just seeing end of milibands speech, looks like it has a bit of passion in it and having a go at farage

even seemed to have a bit of honesty about it lol

Hmm, he talks about being the force for change and all that, but then talks about himself all the time. The lady asking the question now seems to have it spot on that people appear sick of politicians seeming to worry more about themselves and their own prospects than anyone else. It really isn't about him.
