I agree entirely. In my mind these people should be first to be hanged, drawn and quartered, with the workshy a distant second.

Who are the 'work shy' though? The people you mentioned who you say stay at home watching Jeremy Kyle with a kid they can't afford are victims of our current system. It's easy to be 'work shy' when there's no work to be shy of. The type of work which thrived amongst working class communities has been destroyed, leaving nothing but deprived communities across the country. I am not envious of people who are supported through housing because they have a child. It's certainly not a position I would like to be in.

Makes you wonder how those Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians and even those nasty Albanians who come over here ever find work, doesn't it?

The simple but harsh truth is a lot of girls get pregnant because they see it as a way to get their own accommodation fully paid for. I'm dealing with customers with exactly this kind of mindset on a regular basis. Even when times were good in the 00's it was still a major issue. At least by volunteering a couple of hours of your time a week you're increasing your chances of finding paid employment, but they just can't be bothered to do so.

No it's doesn't make me wonder at all. Business owners undercut the working class by paying immigrants a pitiful amount. The Eastern Europeans will work for it because it's more than they can get at home, while the British, quite rightly, won't work for less than the already insultingly low minimum wage. Look at the bigger picture.

Didn't you say you were proud to be a socialist?

Business owners are going to love all of these poor teenage girls working for free in the slim hope of getting a job.

Do you genuinely believe that teenage girls are so calculating and malicious that they would go through pregnancy, bring a new life into the world and care for the child for 18 years to get some extra benefits? Sounds like a bloody bad deal to me.

The opinion you're spouting is actually very insulting. It's sexist because you're blaming young mothers (why are the fathers not even mentioned in your posts?). It's ignorant because you are taking a complex issue of unplanned pregnancy and trying to claim it is for malicious financial reward. And it's classist, because, by implication, you're perpetrating a myth that young mothers on benefits have a great life and are financially secure when the opposite is true.

With all due respect, you can't call yourself a socialist and then come out with the kind of opinions that Charles Murray famously advocated. Socialism don't work like that.

Rascal you must have the patience of a saint, well done.

Whilst the current amalgamation have made mistakes there is one commendable thing they have done. You are a taxpayer, in 2010 your free pay before tax was £6475, in April this year it will be £10600, an increase of £4125 which has meant that you will pay £825 less tax in other words more spending money in your pocket. If ther are two working people in the household it will be £1650.

In 1997 the allowance was £4045, it took Labour 15 year to get this up to £6475 and increase of £2430. That hardly helped with the cost of living!

And yet at the same time non tax payers of the sort who don't earn enough to pay income tax, mostly the poorest in society, are having to pay 20% vat on pretty much all their outgoings.

I'm not sure you're well placed to comment given your apparent support for UKIP within this very thread, the Tory Workfare programme is designed to placate the type of person that UKIP hope to attract.
The DWP getting funny over volunteer work is largely a myth, minus the stupid idea of a few years ago of forcing people to work for free at corporations such as Poundland instead of local museums or hospitals, but certainly in my experience, volunteering was something that was strongly encoHuraged when I was claiming JSA.

People should be encouraged to work, not feel burdened by it. By the same token people should not be given money without sacrificing a part of their selves, no matter what their social status is.

Seems to be a champagne Socialist - does he not realise that all these young pregnant girls that someone had it in for them ? lol

........I hate politicians of all colours saying things like, 'the public want this', 'people aren't interested in this they are more focused on that', 'on the door step bla, bla, bla'.

They are not talking about me when they say the 'people on the streets want this' so stop using such blanket statements.
