Danish coach Brian Sorensen currently in charge of Fortuna Hjorring should soon be named the new Everton women’s Boss, though its thought Chris Roberts would remain in caretaker charge of Everton for the rest of the WSL campaign

Everton has reached an agreement for Brian Sorensen to become the Club’s new Women’s manager ahead of the 2022/23 season, with the Dane signing an initial two-year contract with the Blues.

Sorensen will take up his position with Everton this summer, from Fortuna Hjorring, where during two stints at the Danish club, he has won two league titles, a domestic cup and established Fortuna as regulars in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Sorensen’s CV also includes a further two domestic cup triumphs during spells with Danish sides IK Skovbakken and FC Nordsjaelland.

The 41-year-old, a UEFA Pro Licence coach since 2015, arrives at Everton with a reputation for developing young talent and forming tight-knit squads, founded on supportive and driven cultures.

Sorensen said: “I’m extremely excited to join Everton. It is one of the historic clubs in women’s football and our backgrounds fit nicely, with common values, work ethic and ambitions.

“Having studied the squad in depth during this process, I feel there is massive potential, with players capable of making an impact on the biggest stages.

“I'm very thankful to Fortuna Hjorring for our journey together and their support for this opportunity - and I now look forward to meeting with the Everton staff and players next week on Merseyside and getting to work on preparations for next season.”

Everton Women Managing Director, Alan McTavish, who led on the recruitment process alongside Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “We are delighted to welcome Brian to the Club.

"Throughout the process to appoint a new manager there has been considerable interest in the role and after a great deal of consideration, we are confident we have found the best person to lead the team into next season and beyond.

“Brian was the outstanding candidate from a very strong field, and he is a proven winner.

"His vision for the team, along with his ambition and drive to move Everton Women forward, impressed us throughout the interview process.

“We look forward to Brian joining the Club in the summer and getting started on our work together ahead of the 2022/23 season.”

Chris Roberts and Claire Ditchburn will continue to take interim charge of Everton Women for the remainder of this season.

Everton go down to a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal, Everton went behind just before HT after a decent 1st half, Arsenal got better 2nd half and added 2more goals, Everton rarely troubled the Arsenal keeper

Thought we were really poor again RM.

Looking forward to seeing if the new manager when he comes in can get the squad to gel, pushed up about 20 yards up the pitch and make them capable of playing some football.

We've looked miles away from competing with City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd after strengthening the squad massively so the players (very similar to the mens squad) need to look at themselves and admit they've been nowhere near good enough and performances have been unacceptable on the whole.

Everton end the season with a 1-1 draw at Brighton, Nathalie Bjorn give Everton the lead right on Half Time (Goal Belwo), before Brighton made it 1-1 just after Half Time, Everton end the season in 10th place
