England really do need to turn up from ball one day one. The first session could set the tone for the series. That said, apart from Clarke and Smith the Aussie batting doesn't scare me. Rodgers, Watson and Haddin can all do a good job but they look a class batsmen or two short to me. What they will do though is target any England spinner and get right into him, not let him settle into a long spell.

A lot of our batsmen struggle when the ball is moving around so I'm not as confident about this series as a lot of people are. Steve smiths form has carried the whole batting line up for a while now.

More confident our bowlers can do the job though, tipping starc and harris to get plenty of wickets and wouldn't be surprised to see josh hazlewood take mitchell johnsons spot as I think the conditions are more likely to suit his style.

Do the Aussies want to go with two left-armers and just one right armer? No reason why not.

Watson will perform a useful blocking up one end role.

As others have said cooks captaincy is a concern. The best way to play the aussies is aggressively as Vaughan and even strauss did . Cook is way to cautios.just hope Anderson can get the better of that beaut Warner

Im thinking watson will get smashed all over the shop by our new aggressive batsmen... late on in the test with an old ball he will be there for the taking...

Watson will be lucky to make the team.

Perhaps but he does fulfill a valuable bits and pieces role and is used to English conditions. Yesterday, he didn't bowl against Kent but Mitch Marsh did, albeit just 6 overs. I'd be surprised if Watson was overlooked for the first Test.

Maybe he will start the first but he won't see the series out, he's really, really overrated, even 95% of Australia can't stand him in the team.

Kent did very well to last nearly the whole 4 days and hopefully made enough money from the big crowds to stay solvent for a while longer.
