They started off alright, 5 an over, poor getting out to that part timer though. What's happened to Root? He was tremendous visiting here last year, flicks and sweeps and big hits, crazy.

i didnt mind them taking him out the firing line in the last test if his head has gone, but to throw him straight back in for the one dayers just defeats that argument. then to put him at 3, throw a hitter in there and let him bat down the order as a saver, the more i see of this the less the idea of giles as next in line thrills me, just more of the same

There's a regime in place at England HQ, and it doesn't look like changing. It will take them a long time to realise they need to adapt, but that's England to a tee, always holding onto things for too long and believing in old ways that have seen better days as other countries re invent themselves. Look at India, they're going from strength to strength following the loss of Laxman, Sehwag, Tendulkar etc.

Fletcher took that job at a really difficult time as well, i'm pleased for him, he's the man who gave us our pride back, meanwhile were are making maxwell look like murali

We had our 5 years in the sun, it's another team's chance to be the dominant force in world cricket now I guess. Keep an eye on NZ at next year's World Cup, home conditions, a core group of players coming together, really think they've got a damn good chance of winning the whole thing.

Lost a fair few quid this week betting so chasing a bit I had a good few quid on England at 11-5 to win. Thought were due a win and in a two horse race that was a great price.....I couldn't hate that team anymore if I tried.

Love to know what Sky's viewing figures were like for the Ashes. Not many I know bothered staying up/getting up early.

Watching the highlights now, it was a terrific game from neutral's point of view, but shows how badly England have been scarred by the 5 nil thumping.
