The atmosphere

I wasn’t too happy with the way the club announced people would be able to pick their seats. I thought it would see the safe standing going really quickly and not necessarily to those who want to create an atmosphere. Which proved wrong.

The Athletic touched on it in a podcast recently. Not sure who was the journo but they made a good point that actually Everton had in theory created a blank canvas which would help atmosphere. Currently people have tickets where they could get them, not always where they want.

Now, young lads who want to sing and where stuck in the upper bullpens have the chance to go in standing. Those stuck in the lower G who don’t want to stand but are forced too, can move too. Be interesting to see the final outcome

With the lower standing section it might give a chance for the people wanting a singing section to sit together. Were there ever any ideas for the likes of the 1878's to sit together?

re the roof being too high above, I've listened to a few podcasts where different people said they could hear the sounds bouncing off the roof and thought when full it will be a great atmosphere. Roof wise it's very similar to the Galatasaray stadium which generates a lot of noise so hopefully it'll be great.
Yeah I agree. I tried suggested it but it was either ignored/not read by them.

I think the roof will be great when everyone in full voice, but to get everyone in full voice in the first place and there's only about 10/20 trying to get a new chant going, will it help with it being so far away?

If only there were test events to trythese things out....

Yes, I assumed that the safe-standing was primarily intended to attract the most vociferous.... hopefully the process has been effective to bring them all together as a unified group. The roof does look like it should almost form an acoustic domed-effect for the stadium as a whole, as at Galatasaray (although their's looks slightly more enclosed from aerial views). I'm not sure if that will be largely wasted on the lower standing section, who are essentially singing into open air just as the lower Gwladys does now (except the roof is even higher). So hopefully the upper tier and corners will be equally proactive in their support, and the wrap around barrel roof will really accentuate it.

As I said, the trial event didn't really allow that to be judged. It felt more like a sightseeing event.... and it probably was really.

Interesting point

What’s the fella doing showing his wallet to the crowd?

Park Enders really do come and land on the planet and leave don’t they.
It was probably a response to a ‘feed the scousers’ or a ‘sign on, sign on’ taunt from some of our Tory opposition fans
