There have, or so it seems, been a rash od House fires as people use or, more like, incorrectly use, normally unused heaters.

and to add Insult to injury there is a Volcano near Bali disrupting flights and thus threatening my winter break.

I stayed in the Blue Mountains in July many years back, and I can tell you it got ruddy freezing there at night. It can definitely get quite cold over in Oz, though not so often in Brisbane, I understand.
