The Budget

They're all as bad as each other. Remember this is the government that has sleazed at every turn. I mean it's only this week that a cabinet minister has been watching porn on the taxpayers budget. We've had manifesto promises broken, lies over Iraq, burying bad news and all manner of sleazy behaviour.

The thing is the Tories won't be any better. Power corrupts. It's not a Labour thing, it's not a Tory thing, it's a human thing. This is why I dislike big government so much. At least if a company chief gets selfish, a) you usually have a choice to spend your dosh elsewhere, and b) he only controls a small part of your life. Government controls a big fricking part and you have no choice at all.

It's not a good system at all but people defend the models they know, hence why so many on here bash the Tories, probably without knowing why they do. It's just the done thing isn't it.

There are generally two types of reasoning. One type involves you having a conclusion and then finding reasons to support that. The other involves starting with an empty slate and building up the best solution using the evidence in front of you.

I feel that in politics too many do the former rather than the latter.

Some really brilliant points there mate, really good.

I agree on the fickleness of the voting public but the Tory thing us this way is a historical thing, most can relate to the hardship suffered under Thatchers years and that mud has stuck. It will take a generation or two to rid of that stigma of voting Tory, and to be honest that prick Cameron will not resonate with your average working class voter up North.

I agree though, its a futile exercise as theyre clearly bad as each other.

The only thing that bothers me, as a non voter, is that theres no working class option, left of the centre where the Labour party used to occupy.

The thing is with the working class/traditional Labour area though is that there are many more consumers than there are workers. Tesco for instance has many more customers than workers, but a traditional trade union wouldn't care less about the customer, who would have to fund the wage increases and so on demanded by the union.

It's all arse about face. The customer should drive everything.

Problem is mate, is that the power of the Trade Union is very much diminished now - in some ways for the better but tipped very much in the favour of the big PLCs - the true people who don't give a flying fcuk about the workers.

This is clearly a by-product of Thatcher so illustrates my point further.

I think its a myth that companies don't care about workers. It hasn't been my experience in industry so far. Besides which, a company exists to serve its customers. To do that in a service economy you need happy workers.

Or workers that are afraid of losing their jobs. Works either way, Bruce. I think there are a lot of unhappy workers out there, and I'm confident some of them work for successful, customer-friendly companies.

In general, companies care of their employees soley for HR reasons, not for their goodwill. Basically, covering their own arse to prevent future girevances and lawsuits. Other than that, its all about the financial bottom line.

Anyone who votes the Tories in has a short memory.

Just one look at that Cameron beaut tells you all you need to know, plus the fact he's one bad little posh boy snide.

Spot on.

The little beaut was slating the budget before it was even announced.

I dont like him. Bad snide.

Made up with the car thing though. Audi TT for me in March 2010

I'm not gonna vote labour, but i DEFINATLY won't be voting for Cameron. Agree with a lot of the posts, they are just all as bad as each other. Just got no faith in politicians, there just full of sleaze and corruption.

Don't wanna waste my vote, but really gonna struggle picking someone suitable next general election :dodgy:

Be careful about that scrap car scheme. The government is only giving £1000 the other grand comes from the manufacturer who have been offering bigger discounts than that already!!!

So the grand given by the manufacturer will just come off their planned discount. Remember the scrap cars have to have been owned for a year and have a valid MOT and consequently will also have to taxed.

Many cars over 10 years old are still worth more than 2 grand as well.

Another con trick by this government just like abolishing the 10% tax band, which left 5 million people, the lowest earners paying more tax.

Dan, if you take the frog car to any decent garage and they would knock off more than £2000. If you wave a big wedge of readies, they'll knock off even more again. this was happening before the budget

How many people do you know who have a car over 10 years old are not up to their necks in debt?
How many people do you know who have a car over 10 years old can pay cash for a new car?
How many people do you know who have a car over 10 years old can get credit for a new car?

Smoke and mirrors me thinks
