It's tone-deaf when the team is on its arse and he's offering nothing.

People put so much of their time and energy into propping up football because it's a diversion from real-life problems that millionaire athletes don't experience, so one of them giving interviews about his ambition to educate the lumpenproles by bravely swanning around closed sets in women's clothing is obviously going to be contentious.

I'm sure he knows that, but as it appears to be part of a calculated campaign to raise his profile while courting a move to a bigger club in the summer, he and his team will have decided to proceed as planned. I don't think there's any more or less to it than that.

Nobody is trying to dictate what he should do in his spare time. What most don't seem to recognise though is that what he is doing affects how other players and fans view everton (which does matter)... and if they think we are a bunch of jessies, that is a psychological advantage which they will hammer home.

I think it's as clear as day, but concede I appear to be in a minority.

If hes going to be sold in the summer then it will boost his profile and value (media rights).

But with someone like Beckham, his brand grew because of his footballing ability.

DCL needs to perform well in tandem with these media appearances.

I am genuinely interested if he releases another photo shoot tomorrow or say friday will people who were absolutely fine with it feel the same.

Or maybe the day after we are relegated?
