The passing of Denis Law today got me thinking, football as we once knew it has gone forever. Footballers from that era were also characters outside of the game, they resonated with ordinary people, if that’s the correct way to phrase it. Away from the game you’d possibly see them down the pub or at the cinema, or the races, mixing with ordinary every day people. Footballers now have become such protected commodities to the owners of their clubs that they dare not risk attempting to live any kind of normal existence…. It’s actually quite sad.
Yeah the kind of fellow that makes me proud to be an Aberdonian. The trust in his name also has done a lot of good promoting sport and providing sporting opportunities for young people in the city - the man never forgot where he came from.Aberdeens most famous loon.
RIP

No way!!!!!! Only played on one album ‘Thunder and Lightning’ but played live with them for a while. He was such a different guitarist to what Lizzy had previously, he was a guitarist for the 80s metal scene whereas Moore, Robertson, Gorham were all students of 60s/70s blues rock.Former Thin Lizzy / Whitesnake guitarist John Sykes has died, only 65 RIP
