RIP Arnold Palmer.
What a golfer.
.....aged 87, played the game with style and did so much to raise the profile of the British Open in the early 60s. The Godfather of the modern game.

Arnold Palmer, Rest in Peace
Winner of the 1961 Open at Royal Birkdale and turned the event into one of the greatest sporting occasions on the global calendar.
Had the pleasure of meeting him once, courtesy of IMG. He'll be in heaven now with his old buddy Mark McCormack no doubt working out how to make a few dime.....
Heard one earlier. He received a birthday card off a kid in the early 60s wishing him the usual greetings but the kid added they shared a birthday. The 'kid' received a card off him every year since. Little things.Aye. One of the true gents of the game. Remember reading somewhere that he used to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in postage as folks would ask for autographs but forget to include postage in their envelope.
I went to the same college as Mark McCormack---he donated some serious cash including a new tennis center
