The Dead Thread

In 1973 I received a record token (remember them?) for my 21st birthday.
I had heard records from the band played usually by that hip DJ Noel Edmund on his Sunday morning show on Radio 1 and I quite liked them.
Armed with my token I went to Beatties in Birkenhead to look for an album of theirs and purchased one, and went home to play it.
I didn't hear a single record I recognised, and thought it didn't sound at all like I expected.
No fing wonder. I had bought an LP by Steeleye Span.
Reception on the radio those days left a lot to be desired and got a bit mixed up:blush:

...ah 'Gaudete', I remember it well. Stealers Wheel, Steeleye Span, Steely Dan. The confusion.
