The Dead Thread

Just read liver cirrhosis got Sean and that he was also a non drinker ?
Sake. What's that all about.

He'd had issues with the ale, he'd given up for a spell, no idea whether he'd got back on it, but cirrhosis only comes from drink doesn't it?

Such a shame, talented fella, 51 is no age ffs.

No, it does not. Cirrhosis of the liver is where liver cells become scarred by inflammation so badly that they do not renew themselves. Eventually so many cells are destroyed that liver function becomes impaired.
Inflammation can be caused by a variety of sources. I suffered from primary sclerosing cholangitis ( the same disease that claimed the life of tennis player Elena Baltatatcha in 2014) which is caused by a malfunction of the immune system. I was lucky and was able to have a transplant in 2010. Only around 14% of liver transplants are due to alcohol abuse.

There was a comedian mate of his on TS earlier today, (unrelated booking to Sean), and he said that he knew he had taken to drink again, and was living a pretty unfulfilling life. Has no wife or partner, no kids, or had I should say, and it seems he had reconnected to a friend in a bottle that he hadnt talked to for a while.

Very sad.

Gutted about Kevin Cadle, his voice was fantastic, he had that look of someone who stays up 3 nights a weeak till 5am watching the NFL, bit like me haha I know Dara was very pleasent to look at but she was no replacement for Kev!!

Yes, a great shame. He always made NFL on Sky entertaining and like Sean Hughes, went far, far too soon. RIP.

So many comedians are tortured souls.Their happiness is in that of making others smile/laugh.Very sad news indeed.

Went to see him in August at the Edinburgh fringe, his show was awful, he was not a patch of his former self,it was obvious he was ill then,he appeared quite lethargic,it is sad because he was very funny in his heyday, RIP Sean Hughes

You look at the likes of Robin Williams , Bill Hicks etc.You can always see it afterwards ,the fact that they were troubled in some way.
