Rock Legend Animal Dies Aged 66
January 20, 2016

TRIBUTES have been flooding in from all across the world following the death of Animal, the legendary drummer with rock outfit Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem.
Fans of the supergroup were shocked to learn of the passing of the iconic percussionist, who passed away at just 66 following a short illness. Remaining band members Dr. Teeth, Janice, Zoot and Floyd Pepper took to the group’s Facebook fan page to announce the sad news earlier today.
“We will never forget you, brother,” read the statement from the band.
“You kept rocking ’til the very end. Be at peace now, and we’ll play again in that great muppet theatre in the sky”.

Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem had been performing together for several years before their breakout performance on the Muppet Show in 1975. The band were invited to continue as resident artists for the show, but it was Animal’s trademark intensity that won him the hearts of fans all across the world. His popularity won him appearances in every Muppet movie released, with his last role in 2014’s Muppets: Most Wanted.
“Although he had already been diagnosed with threadbaring syndrome, you would have never known he was sick,” said Fozzie Bear, speaking about the filming of M:MW.
“I’d ask him if he was feeling alright, and he’d just say ‘ANIMAL!!! HAAAAH!!!!’. That was… that was just Animal, you know?”
Other Muppets were quick to add their own tributes to their deceased colleague, with Miss Piggy stating that Animal was “a driving force in her life”, and the Swedish Chef adding that Animal always knew “how tee bork de bork”.

And the Muppet Band Played On
A fake news article claimed that rock legend (and Muppet) Animal had passed away.

CLAIM: Muppet drummer Animal passed away at 66.

FALSE

EXAMPLE: [Collected via Email, January 2016]

I'm wondering if it's true that Animal (from The Muppets) is dead. I've seen a couple of articles that say he is. But, also a couple of articles claiming it's satire or a hoax.

ORIGIN:On 20 January 2016, the entertainment web site Waterford Whispers News published an article claiming that the character Animal from The Muppets had passed away at the age of 66:

It's unclear how Animal, a Muppet, could die, but we have received several emails concerning the fictional creature's well-being. It's likely that some people assumed that the actor who played Animal had passed away, or perhaps that the character was being retired.

At any rate, there is no truth to the above-displayed article. Frank Oz, who voiced Animal on The Muppets, is still alive. The character is also featured on the new Muppets show, although he is voiced by a different actor, Eric Jacobson.

Animal the Muppet lives on.

John David "Jack" Bannister

(born 23 August 1930) (died 23 January 2016) was an English cricket commentator and former player. He is the current Talksport radio cricket correspondent, and was, for many years, a BBC television cricket commentator.

RIP

....I was shocked to read that he was 85, never thought he was that old. I liked his radio summaries and the fact that he had a bet on the horses, seemed a good bloke and I'm presuming the black arm bands on show in this morning's test are for him.

Didn't realise how old he was , he was quality on talksport and never held back! Shame.

You beat me to it, I was just going to post this.

Made cricket worth listening too.

With the Ashes now. Godspeed.

Always enjoyed Jack Bannister in his TV work on the Beeb back in the day before SKY, very knowledgeable and had done the hard yards as a bowler, not some public school toff who smacked tired bowlers around and then missed the next match because of their business commitments. Became something of a sporting trade unionist upon retirement, pushing in his role as PCA Chairman for better pay and contracts for cricketers.

10pm tonight lads.

Talksport: My Sporting Life with Jack Bannister.

enjoy ;)

.....Cecil Parkinson, ex-MP has died. For those as old as me, remembered for the scandal of his affair with Sarah Keys.

I went to see Pamela Stephenson at that time on her stand up comedy tour, came out with the classic "what has Cecil Parkinson got in common with G-Plan furniture....one loose screw and the whole cabinet falls apart".

.....Thatcher sacked him but brought him back later. He was a Thatcherite in the truest sense.
