The Dead Thread

I recall Kenny Burns saying that the only time Clough asked him about a player was when he were thinking of signing Francis as they were former colleagues at Brum, so there must have been a least a tiny bit of doubt about the transfer fee. Burns reply was something along the lines of "oh yes, very good player"

Clough never did ask him again though.

Really sad news about Trevor Francis, wasn't he the youngest outfield player to play in the old first division at one point?a fantastic player, think we were linked with him when we had Latch, what a forward line that would have been,RIP Trevor.
Ironically I think he would have had just as much or even more of an impact at Everton partnering Latch. He was often over shadowed a bit by Robbo at Forest and despite his falling out with Clough over how he was treated being left out of the 2nd European Cup final party I often think it was also that he knew he wasn't the top dog player at Forest at the time that hastened his exit to Citeh.

Trevor Francis was every youngsters hero, playing as he was at the age he did. Living the dream for all us teenagers. He was so skilful playing as a kid would with jumpers for goalposts.

R.I.P - Trevor Francis great player, but as a commentator never had a good word to say about us.
Very true. I was going to mention that fact in my earlier post, but thought it was neither the time or place, but what the heck. His footballing ability never in doubt. His monotonous voice did him no favours either.
