The Dead Thread

Bill Anders, astronaut on Apollo 8 (first crewed flight to the moon) died on Friday at the age of 90 whilst piloting his Beech A45 light aircraft. Perhaps he's best remembered for taking the iconic Earthrise photo. Following commander Frank Borman's death last year this leaves Jim Lovell (who also commanded the almost tragic Apollo 13 flight) as the last surviving crew member. These brave men were the first humans to leave low Earth orbit and head into deep space/the trans lunar void.
