The drummer in this song was a guy called James Bradley junior who was in his 60s at the time of this recording, but had played for all sorts of people in the 50s and 60s like Nat King Cole and Chuck Mangione.

He could do lots of different things, and wrote some really funny stuff back in the 70's. This is one of my favorites.

There's a documentary about the making of the film which is fascinating. I think it was made by Kubrick's daughter and includes impromptu interviews with Duvall and Nicholson. Available on YouTube I guess.
