Panic sale to take a lump sum before his death to deal out in his will from the looks of it. Don't want to be morbid about it, but that's how it seems to me.

Hope I'm wrong and would rather be optimistic about it, but that's my first impression.

same, it's why i believe this will probably as opposed to any others which i have got less and less optimistic about. sad.

Right, but I can't find anything in Forbes where they rank rich folks. Which would lend me to believe he is not a billionaire.
Moores was number 400 something in Forbes about 5 years ago but that's all I could find
Edit: took at the latest Forbes top 400 and neither of them are on there. However the lowest on the list is 1.7 billion

Not only is that distasteful but it is most likely entirely inaccurate. To be honest I am surprised you would say such a thing.

Your assumption is there's a ground...

It's part of Premier League rules. NI, payroll and income tax need to be paid or it'll go straight out of tv money etc etc. Was a period when taxman got first dibbs, when law changed that's when they started to get more aggressive in issuing winding up orders to clubs.

Not any more no. Didn't say otherwise. Was pointing to our history over the past 30 years.

Tax is the primary reason, yes.

Sister's youngest is in there at the mo (nowt too serious, back out again soon). Will gift aid some in even when I'm right ;)

Not if it's not economically viable to be honest.

The dim light was correct. Initially was going to mention that HMRC are no longer preferential creditors but thought no point turning it into an accountancy thread.

When I read your initial post, it honestly did read like it was still there. My misunderstanding.

Tax - everyone just hates it.

The most important thing:

Hope your nephew/neice is OK
.

Sorry if it seemed facetious or insensitive to put the link there but it only twigged when I re-read your post that you said next time I'm there that you had someone close in Alder Hey.

How is it? The guy is in a bad way, and this happens to come about now and seems to be rushed on the surface of things.

As I said, it was my genuine first impression. You might not like it, but it is what it is, and I see it as valid.

The club has not been sold yet. The books are being looked at and a decision is to be made at the end of January. It could go either way but they have been looking at this for apparently 6 months!

Interestingly we have little hard information on the potential buyers.

Now that it's been mentioned I wouldn't be surprised if Thaibev were looking at buying us, we've obviously got close relations and strong brand recognition after a decade as commercial partners and there are 3 Thai companies that own English clubs in the top two tiers, including the team currently top of the league with the added incentive of their major rival Singhas parent company owning Sheffield Wednesday.

There's no evidence it has been rushed, in fact to the contrary, there's been whispers of US groups looking at Everton since the late summer.

As to you justifying your comments re Bill's health well I'm even more surprised. Serious mis-judgement there from a usually respected and respectful poster.

Am I missing something here? He's ill, clearly.

I can't be the only person who hasn't saw a possible link between the two surely? There's nothing distasteful at all about what I have said - if it were me in Bill's shoes, I'd do the bloody same.

Stop trying to make out I'm saying something controversial here. It may not be true, but it's a justified first impression whether you like it or not.

Please mate - ain't it bad enough on here with only one consortium under consideration. :)
