Not true mate, i dont necessarily mean the current board when i speak of being self sustainable, but rather the model we should follow in comparrison to the ungererated fake weatlh and the risks and reliance that go hand in hand. My main point being that this model isnt healthy and possibly a relic of time gone by. If CIty are the marker and it takes 250 mill to crack a top 4, this model is a thing of the past.

Largely i accept we have hit a glass ceiling in terms of growing our income base, thats not derideing from what i think has been acheived from the starting point of the board, nor do i beleive that the board are intentionaly hurting or killing Everton in any way as many suggest.

Many want a takeover so they can get excited by players, but investing in the team is short term stuff, infrastructure is key - a self sustainable model is the only way for the club to gorw and be sustainable. If a second KD came up tomorow, my opinion would change in terms of the glass ceiling - who knows. My point really is it doesnt really matter whois in charge of the club, the key points of growth are an imporvement in our income base through infrastructure to develop a self sustaible model. If that is through investment willing to fund a stadium or our own board find a vehicle of worth - im happy with that.

The hope of supporters that a takeover will just mean more big named players is flawed - its not the team that has to grom and develop it is also the club, people are fooling themselves if they think an artifical captail injection will acheive this or offer us any valuein the long term development of the club.

as much as your post has some very valid points, the fact of the matter is that,
the board has not improved turnover at the same pace as our rival clubs.
we have not improved the ground( increased capacity) in a decade.
rooney, how close were we?
ground moves, do i need to say anything?

they have proved time and again, they are simply out of their depth at a football club. i have lost faith, and do not understand why anyone still trusts them to get it right now. but you buy your ticket etc.

But that's just it isn't it - how much moe evidence do you need that these tasks you believe necessary to move forward are not going to be achieved by this regime...another 11 years of zero investment and retarded commercial growth?

I appreciate your view and the model you hold out, even though I dont accept it myself. But your words mean nothing if you hold out the remotest hope that Kenwright, Earl and Woods are the people to change tack and steer a course out of these doldrums we're in. It's madness to look to them. I suspect you know it too.

Ridiculous.

So you skipped the entire post and went to the last part.

Give me dates, figures and timescales to turn this club into an arsenal type model......GO

Oh taking into account Arsenal have not won a single thing in 6 years....GO

And while were playing hypothetical games....what would've happened if, for example, after the 09 fa cup final pip green handed Moyes a 20mill quid interest free lerner type transfer kitty for the 09 - 10th season? Where would we be then? Administration or banned from europe? which one....GO

Its not just his view that that model is over. If you wish to play in Europe its certainly over.

The UEFA financial fair play regs specify this.

The main thing rich benefactors can do is spend on infrastructure

But that's anti the Lerner model you've been so pro on here.

Fair play, Schmair play.

That'll be about as useful as the FIFA rule book.

This guy doesn't have the cash to make a difference here anyway.

In fairness to Tony Fernandes, he completely turned around AirAsia at a time when everyone thought he was a total idiot for even getting involved with that company, because it was just after 9/11 and AirAsia were in serious debt. Pretty savvy businessman to be fair to him, but he's no Sheikh Mansour, although very few people are. I could see Everton being very successful if Fernandes ever bought the club.

Didn't they just get relegated? Doesn't he hope that they've just dropped their asking price?

Oh yes. I see what you did there.

Drop their asking price? This is West Ham ya talking 'bout mate - serious premiership club . letting Swansea, QPR etc warm their seat until they storm back into their new stadium. We want to double our dosh (y)

He is, but not the type of guy to make a difference at a Prem club. He's not even in the Gold/Sullivan league in terms of worth.

How are you supposed to qualify for Europe of you're squads **** cos youre not investing in the squad you Gimp?

You can spend billions on building infastructure but if the manager ain't seeing a penny for 10th years, you ain't getting anywhere near Europe
