I read the Simon Jordan autobiography, and after reading this I am even firmer in my belief that we are in safer hands.

David Moyes is acting as financial controller as well as our manager.

Genuine question What in relation to Jordan's book led you to that mate ? I haven't read it although I may well get it over the next month if its worth it. It should be noted though that Jordan is a flawed football businessman and a pretty impressive bullsh*tter who spent years ****ging off agents having tried (and failed) to set up his own sports management company

So where does the £9m come from? What happens when delays occur, contractor or materials prices increase. All these are factors that are in taken into the initial budgetting decisions, its feasbale that the £9m could become £12/15/18m over the course of the build.

Yes we have spent £5m in rent, but its accounted for (i.e. its a lease so you know your actually expenditure) which makes budgetting setting and cuts easier to deal with. The landlord of the premise is also responsiblility for the grounds which is another cost not associated to the club.

It didnt cost 18m tho, it cost 9m.

And considering the hike in OOC, which our CEO constantly points towards Finch Farm as a reason, I think we can assume, the landlord isnt taking the costs onboard himself.

But hey, I dont have a degree, so adding 2+2 and getting 4 isnt easy for me.

We need somebody with working experience. Like the owners of Portsmouth. Or Rangers. Or Leeds....

Your completely right about being a flawed football businessman, however he also seemed to lack the basics of everyday business. He never worked with any of his managers, although he never appeared to carry out any real research into the managers he would appoint. He blames everyone but himself, and agreed it was his money, but nothing seemed to ever be thought out. He was literally all over the place. His brother, a decent builder by trade was brought in as some kind of commercial / operations director.

In fact there was so much that was flawed with Jordan's character and lack of general business acumen that I'm amazed that he lasted as long as did.

I'd recommend it purely because there are no more Harry
Potters books coming out.

I used to have my own chauffeur business and would regularly drive some very influential business people including Ellis Short who now owns Sunderland. Now he is the type of person we would want to work alongside BK. he's not a fan, just absolutely minted, and connected like you wouldn't believe, and business savvy with plenty of time on his hands.

kenwright has lied over and over again, its proven over and over again he has lied, and some of you still live in denial.

Nothing at all to do with Finch Farm

All these people who think finance in a business world make me laugh. Oh 1+1=2 its that simple is it. I'm not saying the decisions the club has made over the years have been the best, but alot of them are commercially acceptable when working with a debt and increasing costs.

Exactly right.

I'm no fan of the current incumbents in the Everton boardroom, but the derision of the Finch Farm deal by some armchair 'experts', is somewhat simplistic.

Everton needed a state of the art training facility, they now have a state of the art training facility, that they chose to fund off balance sheet, to allow other funding streams to remain free. They also don't have to depreciate the asset, nor maintain it's structure. There are many & varied reasons why a lease is used in preference to capital funding, so unless we were privy to all of the facts at the time the decision was made, we can't say it was a bad call.

The lease costs are circa £1M, the link to the OOC's is a red herring, as is the inclusion of issue over land securitisation at Goodison.

Assumptions mean nothing; the build could have easily esculated in price over time and nobody could have predicted it, it would be part of the project brief to include contingency planning in such cases. And a large multinational company will have a wealth of reserves to draw upon in cases of such things. Its somehting that you can't fully plan for, only be prepare for.

The build did cost £9m, but was that the original quote. During the initial project spec and tender this could have been priced at £6m.

And i'm not talking about running costs that the landlord will be taking on, there'll be certain aspects of the building/premises that under law, and in accordance with the lease, he will be responsible.

Our CEO has stated that the increase in OOC is down to finch farm, but until the details are released its unknown exactly what the details are.

And I haven't got a degree either mate; my knowledge is through experience and practical knowldge

I don't accept Kenwright. I just know the difference between good and bad decisions.

And why doesn;t the CEO ever get a mention for the poor state we find ourselves; I mean people are aware that the day-today running of the club falls to the CEO

He does, but on this matter.

CEO of Everton F.C. (2008–present)

Finch Farm
Opened 9 October 2007

For one, I never rattled on about working experience. I think the poster was referring to your remarks about how things are being done so poor and would like you to explain how things could change, and what exeperience you have of dealing with large corporations, budgets etc.

If you have an opinion then please feel free to discuss; why is Kitbag and Sodexho such a bad deal? How would you have conducted the Finch Farm finance package, which cuts would you have made, and what areas of the budget would you have sacrificed to fund the build
