The Final: Argentina v France

His accountant was the one who made a mess of his taxes. He’s not alone in making that mistake. So to answer your question, yes, we can forget it! Duncan Ferguson went to prison, do you think of him as a criminal as well?! I don’t
He's a criminal who has whored himself to Middle East despotic regimes.

I dont remember Pele and was only a kid in Maradona's reign but Messi for me only due to the speed of the game these days.

However looking at these clips wgich appear to show the Cruyff turn was first done by him, he was obviously a special player with a lot of skill

Great video that.
Used to think there was a lot of fuss for a player that scored a Le tissier at 18 and missed from the half way line at 30.

This is absolute nonsense. That Argentina side is not filled with top quality players, there’s two or three including Messi and the rest is bang average. Messi is the one that makes them tick and has been for years and years, he’s dragged them along with him. Take Messi out of that side and it goes out limply in the quarter finals to the Netherlands, possibly even Australia in the last 16 tbh. Just take the L on this one because it’s a big one, and you’re looking very childish kicking and screaming about it on here
The present Argentina side are great players in their own right. They had about 3 of the best young talents in the tournament.

El Diego dragged a load of journeymen to the WC crown.

The negligée was good obvs, but a personal favourite moment was Infantoni apparently refusing to yield the trophy to the Emir of Qatar resulting in the pair of them jointly thrusting it in the general direction of Messi.

I doubt that was in the script.

Nonsense that, he scored every type of goal, was great with both feet, had pace, power, skill, great in the air.

What sets Messi apart from everyone, including Pele and Maradona is his vision. No one comes close.
And the longevity and the goals. He’s the gift that keeps on giving.

He outscored both of them (top league rather than peles inc friendlies) and is still doing it at an age where Maradona and pele were effectively retired playing exhibition games

I don’t care if he scored every type of goal, his highlights are not what I’d expect for supposedly the greatest player to ever play the game.

Call him a pioneer by all means but anyone watching clips of him and coming to the conclusion he was the best ever is on crack as far as I’m concerned.

I'm glad to see that the French didn't racially abuse any of their black players who missed their penalties yesterday. It would appear that the fan culture in France is more advanced.

Unfortunately, this appears to be a lie. Please refrain from spreading misinformation on the internet regarding such a serious topic.

Bro, not a single one of those racist comments are from a French account. Even most of the racism that was directed at the French players were from Argentine supporters and you had things like "mbappe negro" trending at one point.

I don’t believe you have looked into those accounts to confirm they aren’t French to be honest with you, because they’re all private accounts with no information on them.

I'd say these highlights show what a player he was. I never saw him myself, way before my time so I can't claim to know the ins and out of his game like I can with Messi but I think it's unfair to dismiss players just cause of the era they played in.

It's obviously hard to compare across eras because there is no way Messi and the modern players would look as they do now back then with the worse pitches etc. The game was clearly slower back then but you can still see the quality of the best players compared to their opponents. Pele won 3 World Cups, shining in 2 of them, and he scored an unbelievable amount of goals. When he was up against the best in Europe in those Intercontinental Cup matches he also stood out, outshining the likes of Eusebio when up against Benfica and in the following year against Europes best team - AC Milan. When he needed to prove he was the best, he did it, no matter what the occasion or opposition. And if you put him in today's era I believe he'd have rivalled Messi.

Messi is my favourite player of all time though and I would now have him as the greatest after what he did this tournament but I think Pele was one of the all time greats too, along with Maradona.
