Why are so many English people supporting Argentina? I don't really understand it. Argentina actively claim and dispute the Falklands Islands as their own and still to this day, they are adamant they will get Falklands back.
Falklands are administered by the UK, not England. Would you be equally surprised by Welsh or Scottish people supporting Argentina?

Argentina claiming sovereignity is also irrelevant in a football match.

Populist politicians claiming they may do something in the future is also irrelevant in a football match.

Argentina and the English fought one war.

France and the English fought wars for the better part of a millennium. I think circumstances landing them on the same side against Germany prior to World War I surprised those in both capitals as much as anyone else.

A century may have done a lot to tear walls down, but there's still animosity and then some.

All joking apart, I dont mind either country, I mean im not holding grudges cos of a war that happened millions of years ago.

Countries have wars, I doubt theres a country we havent been at war with.

So from my POV, no real animosity to any country really, I hate them all equally for not being England.

Nope, the UK fought Argentina, not England.

You need to beat the best of the best to get to the World Cup Final in 2022, and there only one team France and Argentina both beat to get there.

This is like the Kiwi I heard claim NZ were "The only team who went undefeated" in 2010. I mean, they went out in the 1st round but there we are.
