Just play the final game , when the final whistle blows leave it to the fans to reminisce, celebrate or mourn as befits the individual.
There is no need for lachrymose, corporate BS.
Keep it simple.

I have actually thought about what will happen after the last game- items that can be reused etc. I imagine they will take the centre spot from the pitch for the new ground on the final whistle, then will be auctioning things off, donating things to other clubs, seats / turnstiles / PA stuff / catering equipment/ digital screens etc, recycling as much as they can and offering systems to other clubs (floodlight systems etc- the LED upgrade a few years ago cost a fortune- surely they don’t just scrap it all) they will have already sussed out what they will be keeping. I don’t know whether the Bullens road steelwork lattice could somehow be used in the concourses of the new ground- like at the bars, or maybe it’s time to move on from that thinking- new ground, era for the club etc.

The last game all players on both sides should wear the kit in the same style as in the first game, with thick leather boots and a lace up casey. The ref should wear a blazer.

If thats not first on motd then football has lost its soul.

Richard Keys conducting a presentation while Jamie Redknapp hangs out the back of it and Jimmy Bullard doing a cringey Soccer AM ‘top binz’ challenge followed by Bill Kenwright waxing lyrical on the pitch with a microphone, in an extra good mood because we’ve just secured another season of Premier League football.
