The first wheel falls off

I havent got Sky mate and I havent missed any game that I wanted to watch, ive even seen lots and lots of games that havent been on Sky.

If you wish to have a go at somebody, pick the BBC, they force people to pay for their service, you sadly do not have a choice. What do we pay for? Eastenders and other shiiite.

It isnt.
I would like the FA to give the game to a bigger audience and not charge the earth for it

And how far away from reality do you live? Do you want football to return to mess it was in before Sky stepped in. I certainly don't. If you can't afford sky, watch the games on the net like most others on here do, or go the pub or a friends house. I haven't got sky and I never miss a game.

What mess? More teams were on a level field before they stepped in.

Before Sky stepped in English football was at a major low. The money from sky has helped clubs improved their poor stadiums, bring in quality players from overseas and raise the profile of the English game significantly to the point where we are now arguably the best in the world. The amount of money pumped into the game by sky is huge. And that's not to mention their TV coverage which is second to none.

EDIT: And sky is not the reason there is not a level playing field. The money from the Champions League is the reason!

I dont recall this major low you said.
Money brings the best players to our league,to the detriment of the England team.
If you look further back I said sky wasnt the reason,it was part of it, as is the money for the champions league.
Incidently the champions league on sky is on a differnt channel to the prem league which means you have to subscribe to another sports channel

You don't recall it? You obviously are too young or you just weren't in to football back then. This major low I'm talking about that you apparently slept through was in the aftermath of all the football violence throughout the 80's and attendances were in a big slump. Stadiums in this country were shocking, so were the pitches for the most part and no world class players from abroad were interested in playing here. Things began to change after the Premier League was born and with the help of sky things have got better and better ever since.

EDIT: And once again, sky is not really a part of any divide between the top 4 and the rest. The money difference for tv rights is not that great, whereas champions league money is!

Too young eh I wish!
I've followed Everton through good times and bad, home and quite a few away
You obviously cant see any harm in sky and I suppose where you are you depend on it to watch football.
No world class players came here you say.
What about 2 world cup winning members of the Argentina side,Dutch players who were the cream of their national side.England side getting to the quarter finals of the 86 world cup only beaten by hand of god,Semi finals of the world cup only to be beaten on pens by the Germans.
Everton winning leagues along with numerous cups and other trophies won by others.
Horticultural advances (nowt to do with sky) make for better pitches for most teams now,as man utd would testify.
And of course there is no violence at or around matches now.
Thats why we play at midday against man utd so we can enjoy their company longer, along with Liverpool in the "friendly derby"
Millwall were there in the 80's and they're still at it.
Fans beaten up outside grounds that isn't mentioned,so you wouldnt see it there.
I think there's only 4 teams won the premier league since its inception and 17 out of the last 19 FA cups have been won by the top 4.
Would you say thats healthy?
I wouldn't

7 miles to the city centre?

So we get on what? 10-12 games a year? go to those matches instead, for a basic Sky + Sky Sports package it's £36.50 p/m every month which totals £438, just going to the match for those 10-12 games in the Upper Gwladys is £384, a season ticket is even less for a 16-21 year old, or about £100 extra for an adult.

I must say this debate has been quite interesting. I see the point mikey's trying to make, but only to a certain extent. I'm inclined to agree with the rest of the lot. It's the CL money that causing the difference between the 4 and the rest. I'd like to see Arsenal or Liverpool miss out on that money just once and see what happens. I think if either of those two teams miss out on the extra millions, they might fall back a bit. Then, of course, it'll turn into a big3, but at least there might be a CL spot up for grabs every year, and there won't be the "best of the rest" title given out to fifth place each year.

Are you trying to say the violence in football now is anything like it was in the 80's? You must be off your head. And yes, there were SOME world class players attracted to this league before the sky era but nothing like the days after the premier league was born.

And yes I would say football is in a very healthy state right now. Again, the fact that the top 4 are so ahead of the rest and have better squads is because they have the advantage of CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MONEY!!

And no, I don't have to rely on sky, there is the Internet and I travel up to see us play as well.

I have 2 season tickets that cost me £718 to renew for next season,1 adult, 1 16-21
I do my bit direct not reliant on sky who I used to subscribe to.
I'd rather give money to Everton than an empire that used part of that empire in the form of papers to discredit scousers and help conservatives ruin this country.
