Dad watched Dixie
Player Valuation: £2.5m
It was. Stopped the eternal crowing from the RS but that aside, the quality of football was superb.

In what sense are they forgotten?
I for one watched that team, how good they were, beating all comers and I thought that this was set to be the case for years to come. Cant think what happened next. The DVD Howard’s way had next to no mention of that league title win.
I go to a lot of Everton nights with my mate and his dad and his dad always mentions how nobody talks about this championship, even though it was Kendall’s finest achievement according to him.
He mentions to us players like Wayne Clarke, Paul power and these are two players who I’ve rarely heard of yet they played a massive part in us winning the league.
Sheedy mentioned it too when I met him. He said people should talk about this league win more as we had players injured, out of position yet still won the league.
Does seem like this has been forgotten somewhat compared to the first win under Kendall.
Im looking forward to getting this book as I know very little about this team whilst I know everything about the 84/85 one.
Then it's not forgotten, it's merely less heralded by some. The DVD Howard’s way had next to no mention of that league title win.

In my mind I have the LC SF first leg defeat against Arsenal at Goodison the following season as the beginning of the end for that team. It's quite simple really. Apart from Kendall leaving & the European ban accelerating the break up of the squad.
The club stood still. If younger fans want to get a grasp of it; we're doing the exact thing right now. Under Moshiri.
Mismanagement.
Yet in 87 we were the champions. In this moment we were one of the "big 5" and were instrumental in the formation of the PL. Only the RS had won more titles than us. Yet we just stood still. I remember watching the team in the following years after 87 and seeing the RS Arsenal, Man U, Forest, one or two others challenging for the title and thinking to myself why aren't we challenging anymore? We drifted. Other clubs like Man U built and built. We stood still. As the saying goes when you stand still you go backwards.
thanks for that although it was a rhetorical question. ?It's quite simple really. Apart from Kendall leaving & the European ban accelerating the break up of the squad.

If we'd have beaten Arsenal in the tie we'd have had Luton in the final and more than likely a trophy that could have maintained confidence and kept the team together and attracted better players.
it annoys the feck out of most of us who were around at that time. I cant see that HK would have left if the euro ban didn't happen, no way on earth would we have lost players like Steven and Stevens to Glasgow Rangers etc. We just didn't have enough of a strong base when it happened that allowed the decline. Had we had another 2-3 years of success before the ban, it may have been a different story. Why were we banned again, I forget what we did?I know. But felt like having a rant. lol
Decent second half but they were dire. Penalty missed. No fight second leg.I guess. I was at the game Sunday I think. We were as easy to play against as we have been in recent years if you get my drift.
Yes mate your 100% rightI for one watched that team, how good they were, beating all comers and I thought that this was set to be the case for years to come. Cant think what happened next.
I'd completely forgotten we were champions in 1987.
