It doesn't belong in any food group lad.

It's not meat. It's not dairy (there's no bloody milk in it). It's just an embryo. That you fry and EAT.

uhgughughug

You can say that about anything though, 'Rump steak? Ugh thats just cow arse fried and then eaten!!'

I think due to the high level of protein in egg, it is actually classified as a meat. I remember in some weird place they actually sell them with baby chickens in them :toilet:

Best breakfast I've had for a while was surprisingly in Moon under the Water in Manc, only a few quid and had the lot. THE LOT!

This place is freaking me out tonight.

You HAVE to elaborate on that.

This may be a good time to cover your eyes, food fans.

Well that would explain it, whats that saying? In China they eat everything with wings except aeroplanes and everything with legs except tables.

It's called balut egg.

"A balut is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell. They are common, everyday food in some countries in Southeast Asia, such as in the Philipines, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, balut are mostly sold by street vendors at night in the regions where they are available."

So basically it's the Southeast asian version of a kebab?

There are pics on the wiki site if you are feeling strong stomached http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_(egg)
