Makes me laugh on forums when people slate Kenwright, I despised the man within 18 months of his takeover and spent 20 years arguing with the MAJORITY of the fan base who clapped him and adored him whenever he appeared, yet when you listen to fans they make out that they never liked him at all, it was only his last 18 months they turned on him.

It was kings dock for me, that's when I realised....

I'd wager a lot just felt similar to me for many years, they felt Bill was just out of his depth but earnestly a blue trying (and failing) to do right by the club.

I only realised the full extent of the damage he'd done, the people he'd got us involved and the extent to which he was looking after his own interests about 3 years ago.

Exhausting wasn’t it

I hated him after the King's Dock loss of ground mate ....

Watching James Horncastle on The Athletic podcast there. Gives quite a brutal assessment of TFG mainly centered on poor player and manager recruitment and PSR issues. Doesn't think they are big enough to manage both clubs and the recent issues are going to be a forerunner for the sale of Roma.

I do think recruitment has been an issue for them. They spent relatively big in their first season but got no benefit in league placings and that has continued. The Europa Conference win and Europa League final may have masked their league placings to a degree. It should be much easier to get Top 4 in Serie A for what they spent.

They appear to allow football people to do their jobs though so their choice of DOF and manager when those changes come will be the center of everything, but that's the case for all clubs. You would hope that Everton can be the beneficiary of the mistakes they've made at Roma.
Listened to that as well and did get a reality check. It made me realize this is still a very unseasoned group in terms of experience. Horncastle is one of the best in the world in covering the sport, let alone Serie A. I would take his opinion seriously. The notes on purging some of the youth in the early goings is worrisome.

I still think they were the best of the interested parties. They are clearly aspirational in regards to competing, demonstrated on the money spent and a trophy. Hastiness of some of the ASR business has maybe made them realized they need to be more serious in regards to sell on viability. That said I do think there business this summer was notable. Dovbyk may be 27 which leaves sell on potential questionable, he also may be one of the best strikers in europe that people don't obviously know. The rest of the business is under 25 with the exception of Angelino. 16 year old Sangare from Levante in Spain? it makes me hope they have deep scouting networks.

But big outlays without a lot good returns in sales does make me think of some of Moshiri's early years. Upper middle table club outlaying present focused business in hopes to marginally push european spots...sound like anyone?

I am still excited for a change and think they have a fair bit going for them. But precautions are deserving.

I was one of those blind sided, totally.

Hope it's not the same this time.

Kings Dock and his banal platitudes, "watch this space" etc etc were my tipping point.

What’s the story here? Was a bit before my time
Could have moved to this 60k seater stadium in the most prime location on the waterfront ( where the m&s bank arena is now)

All we needed was 30m. Paul Gregg offered it in condition kenwright sold the club to him. Kenwright refused. According to paul Gregg, Liverpool city council then offered to pay because of the great opportunity for the city. Kenwright refused. The deal collapsed and then a few years later he tried to move us to a crap stadium next to a Tesco in Kirby.
