Being critical of Bills running of the club is justified because it was terrible but that picture is absolutely disgraceful. Have we fell that far that we now disrespect the dead. Absolutely shameful.
This thread, like others before it, seems to have turned into a contest to see who hated Kenwright the most and the longest. He was a bad chairman but it’s all a bit unseemly.

For me anyway, while I take Damo’s point about learning from the past, I hope this takeover is a chance to, personally and collectively, move on from the resentments of the past. I’m not sure holding onto it will do anyone any good.

Could have moved to this 60k seater stadium in the most prime location on the waterfront ( where the m&s bank arena is now)

All we needed was 30m. Paul Gregg offered it in condition kenwright sold the club to him. Kenwright refused. According to paul Gregg, Liverpool city council then offered to pay because of the great opportunity for the city. Kenwright refused. The deal collapsed and then a few years later he tried to move us to a crap stadium next to a Tesco in Kirby.
Plus better thriving area as it has now proved to be & the Stadia was bigger & better with a ferry to commute fans from over the Wirral - plus geared up for concerts - BK would not let any outside investment 30 million as pointed out - lost this ground - Gregg his partner of Blue holdings was fuming & walked away later .... he would have been in charge of the big events - the Echo Arena now provides - he had it all designed for a floor on rollers to safeguard the grass - all the planning was passed & the big chump BK would not give a small part of his train set away !

He only survived because of Moyes.

While Moyes has us competing without spending, Blue Bill just casually relaxed in the background and let the club just float.

Didn't once push us forward on the back of FA Final, semi finals, Champions League places, and European qualification. Lived off the TV money and inflation. Until some of his mates wanted a slice of the pie or offered "proposals"
I think both of them were lucky to have a Wayne Rooney sized pot of gold, without that money at that time, could have been a lot worse

Opportunities and progress fell into his lap rather than him actually doing anything to make it happened. It eventually transpired he couldn't sell Rooney fast enough behind his back (then cry he didn't want to do it).

He made some good decisions managerial wise and was a good friend of every club in the league to schmooze deals with.

Put off the field...he wasn't THAT type of business man.

You have touched on the salient point: learning from the past.

Unfortunately, we need to remind people what they were party to in the past. If we don't, we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Kenwright was a disaster for Everton and no, 7th was not magnificent. It was a very respectable return for no outlay - which is what the snake oil salesman Kenwright was offering. For him, it was truly magnificent, almost heroic. For a club with nine league titles, and two more than Man United when Kenwright joined the board, it was an abject capitulation.

Let's hope we never witness any more seal-clapping on the Jumbotron when the Friedkins appear at both ends of the Toyota Collisseum.

He came out and said that after Bill died - im not opening the particular can of worms - but why didn't he do it when he was alive if true.

Fans should have hounded him out after the kings dock collapse.

I often wonder where we’d be today if it had happened. It’s nice we’re moving to Bramley Moore but really it’s 20 years too late.

Listened to that as well and did get a reality check. It made me realize this is still a very unseasoned group in terms of experience. Horncastle is one of the best in the world in covering the sport, let alone Serie A. I would take his opinion seriously. The notes on purging some of the youth in the early goings is worrisome.

I still think they were the best of the interested parties. They are clearly aspirational in regards to competing, demonstrated on the money spent and a trophy. Hastiness of some of the ASR business has maybe made them realized they need to be more serious in regards to sell on viability. That said I do think there business this summer was notable. Dovbyk may be 27 which leaves sell on potential questionable, he also may be one of the best strikers in europe that people don't obviously know. The rest of the business is under 25 with the exception of Angelino. 16 year old Sangare from Levante in Spain? it makes me hope they have deep scouting networks.

But big outlays without a lot good returns in sales does make me think of some of Moshiri's early years. Upper middle table club outlaying present focused business in hopes to marginally push european spots...sound like anyone?

I am still excited for a change and think they have a fair bit going for them. But precautions are deserving.

Long as they make use debt free I don't really care. Once the stadium starts to make money and hopefully their business connections allow for better sponsorship deals, we'll be in a much better position for state buy out. :D

They're effectively allowing us to get out of the first difficult 10-20 years of owing so much, I'm sure however bad they might be as owners, it will be outweighed by this.
