Sensible decision tbh, will buy them some time till they decide what to do in regards to selling up to the the Saudi's or pushing on with stadium plans/more permanent manager

He’s a Rome lad I think and a Roma supporter, might sit well with the locals.

A 73 year old manager into Rome. If theyre not planning to sell to the Saudis then that is a bizarre appointment.

Spending in January reduces our spending capability next summer.

As little as possible change please.

The revolution begins June.

They have to spend in January. If they dont then its simply too much work to do in the summer.

Need three signings -- young players in key positions that can push the starters for a place this season and adapt...

...then start next season.

I had this view and shared it a lot on here the January we spent under Allardyce on Walcott/Tosun.

Felt we'd stay up anyway, knew Allardyce was gone and felt was a waste. Like so;

Disagree.

Dembele, Andre Silva, Dolberg etc.

If Tosun comes in, we still need a top striker - he doesn't have the credentials for that fee and we're not that desperate - we'll finish 7th-9th this season with or without him.

We shouldn't give Allardyce a penny in my view, because I'm convinced he was brought in as a last resort amid panic to get us through the season without a total relegation collapse.

... so I get it and would usually agree with the sentiment.

Not as confident this season though, and I'd hope there's some longer term planning this time. So if we can get the likes of Gnonto, or others we wanted in the summer but couldn't then we should try.

….except a new manager/DoF regime might not want players we’ve previously been linked with.

Can't wait till it's complete. It will be really interesting seeing what they do and how they proceed. Might be exciting, might be disappointing but it will be new and different either way. I have a feeling they will have a lot planned and will want to hit the ground running but after Moshiri, it is wise to be cautious. Cautiously optimistic maybe.

That's if there is a new DoF regime.

And if there is, TFG will have been working on who to recruit.

But Everton will definitely be active in January, because we need to be. I think we'll be top 5 spenders.

Tend to agree, though the January window is tough.

One of our biggest obstacles (cash) should be removed when the change goes through, you would think that would open quite a few more doors that in prior windows, even if the total spend is not huge. We shouldn't be striking names off of our target list because the selling club wants a better payment structure.
