I can watch womens tennis no problem and enjoy it so it's not a sexism thing, women tennis players actually look like they have talent and the skill level seems very high despite it lacking the power of mens game... womens soccer though, it's barely a step up from watching sunday league, its utterly horrendous as a spectacle.

As a father of 3 girls, this is something I'm acutely aware of. I see toddler boys in the park whacking volleys around whilst my 7 and 6 year old girls can barely kick the ball without falling over. Is it something genetic? I'm not a bad player myself though can't claim to have been a child prodigy, but my girls have me shaking my head in shame when I see their attempts at football.

Have you shown them how to properly do it? I think girls are bypassed a lot when learning proper techniques for sports. My dad is a huge fan of baseball and taught me early on how to throw the right way, whereas most women I play with recreationally are terrible at pitching.
 

I may be in the minority but I think the girls are impressive! Keeping in mind the best players may not be at the Olympics?

FFS. The better team lost, Sweden played like a bunch of cowards. First statement is true - but that does not give you the right to expect victory every time (think LFC here). If Sweden had turned up and played open flowing football, they would have lost.

Now, the coward statement - a little ironic don't you think Hope? Consider your criminal past and what you were guilty of. That's a coward.

Oh, and your pathetic attempt to 'ice' the final penalty taker - WTF was that.

I was rooting for them, but I'm glad they lost now.

totally agree with what @longers says about women's football. In most other sports there's not much technical differences to the men, barring the hindrance that they have breasts which will obviously make things more difficult.

But football just hasn't changed since i was a boy, they all look like they toe punt it. That aluko lass for england though is very similar to sterling in sprint style and woefulness in front of goal.

Loved that USA Goal vs sweden btw, boss assist. loved it.
