The GOT Book Club

The Vorrh

Very unconventional fantasy, quite enjoyed some parts of it but it's weird and I'm not really sure I understood it. Second part of the trilogy is out but I'm not rushing to read it.

nearly finished this book only 2 chapters to go.i picked it up in a charity shop as a little stop gap book.i enjoyed it more as it went on as i found all the names a little confusing at the start trying to remember who was who but an interesting read of the history of the samurai.for some reason i thought the samurai were a very elite(maybe due to western films and the such)warrior class and maybe in other books they are portrayed as such but sounds like any soldier over there was a samurai.

Thanks. I thought I would read them anyway. That way I can get to find out a bit more of the characters I'm reading about right now.
There's been a couple more out more recently. Read the first, The Girl in the spiders Web, but it's not a patch on the original Larsonn books. I'll still get the second though when Tesco's have the soft back version for £3;).

One of my favourite authors, but was a bit disappointed in his War of the Roses trilogy. Probably because I was looking forward to it so much, but it failed to match my expectations.
Ya read his khan series.loved them so got these and its up there with the khan series.beautifully written.love his style.wouldn't be to arsed with the war if the roses but just because he wrote them i would probably have to try the first one at least.

Well they do say don't judge a book by it's cover... :p

Get some kind of ebook reading device, Amazon and places are always selling stuff for 99p :)

haha very good:D
do you use an ebook reader?.i am an old school book man.love the smell and feel of a real book.;)

Yeah, I'm generally trying to go digital with all my media, reduce the 'clutter' a bit, but I do like the look and feel of books (and dvds), so will keep physical copies of my favourites, and digital only of anything else I have/want. I have an Asus (I think) tablet at home, about a 5" screen, which I use for ebooks, plus can surf etc a little too.

Just ordered Denis Johnson's last collection of stories, the largesse of the sea maiden, published posthumously as he died last year - reviewed in a couple of the papers at the weekend and praised to the skies. Expecting it to slay, tbh - he could get a bit noodly with his longer novels but he ruled the shorter form.
