1. I read the simulation theory paper and it's stupid
2. The most important academic paper I've ever read is Ionaddis 2005, and to summarize "most ideas are stupid and not worth your time"

On those clear nights when the stars are shining it’s almost impossible to think about the sheer size of what you see. We are merely ants on a small beach in comparison. I’d loved to have travelled and seen it, but obviously won’t, but I hope my grandkids do. The sheer wonder of it is incredible…..

Boggles the mind

Although it seems that the jury is still out amongst scientists on whether the universe is infinite or not. The geometry of spacetime appears to be flat with current observation methods - in which case if you were to travel in a straight line, then you would continue on forever across the infinite universe, never again to return to the same point.

But perhaps the limitations of our measurement capabilities is misleading us. Humans for thousands of years stood on the earth and believed it was flat - It was just too big for our ancestors to discern the curved geometry of the earths surface. If the geometry of spacetime is curved then the universe isn't infinite, (just proper massive), which eliminates all of the crazy paradoxes associated with infinity.
